1. Codex Ultimatus
The "Codex Ultimátus," whose name derives from the infernal term meaning "ultimate notebook," represents a book available for acquisition at the Exam Centre, through a conversation with Terry Balando once you have completed the "The Dig Site" quest. Within its pages, this codex holds relevant information about Zaros and Loarnab. Additionally, there's an option to place it on a bookshelf within your character's residence.
Upon reading this book, it triggers the unlocking of three threshold abilities, one corresponding to each combat style: Blood tendrils (requires 75 Attack), Shadow tendrils (requires 75 Ranged), and Smoke tendrils (requires 75 Magic). Likewise, a maximum threshold ability known as Ice Asylum is unlocked (requires 91 Constitution). It's worth noting that this reward can only be obtained if the player has at least 75 in Attack, Ranged, or Magic, or 91 in Constitution.
2. Mazcab ability codex
The Mazcab ability codex is an item that, when read, grants access to various abilities. It can be obtained through the armoursmith for 25,000 Teci or can also be obtained as loot from defeating the Beastmaster Durzag or Yakamaru. There is no confirmation message when selecting an ability; the choice will be executed immediately, and the codex will be consumed.
This codex allows you to unlock one of the following abilities, provided that you have the required level to use it:
1. Storm Shards & Shatter (together)
2. Onslaught
3. Corruption Blast
4. Corruption Shot
5. Mazcab Teleport
Once all abilities have been unlocked, the codex can no longer be used.
It's important to note that while locked abilities will be shown with a padlock, the teleport will not. If you have the appropriate runes in your inventory, it will light up, though a message will appear if you attempt to use it without meeting the requirements.
Buying the codex directly from the armoursmith with Teci is not practical unless you intend to sell it, as the armoursmith also offers specific ability codices at a 10,000 Teci cheaper price.
3. Reprisal ability codex
The "Reprisal" ability codex is used to unlock the "Reprisal" ability itself, which requires a Constitution level of 85. This valuable reward is obtained as a rare drop from Telos.
It's worth noting that you do not need to have a Constitution level of 85 to read the codex and unlock the ability in question. However, that level is indeed necessary to be able to use the unlocked ability.
4. Praesul codex
The Praesul Codex is an item released by Nex: Angel of Death. Its function is to unlock one of the four curses available: Malevolence, Desolation, Affliction, or Ruin. Each of these curses requires a Prayer level of 99 to be used. To unlock all four curses, a player would need to use four codices, which has an approximate value of 4,236,284,964 coins.
Reading the codex gives the player the opportunity to choose one of the following effects:
Malevolence: This melee curse increases the player's Attack level by 12, melee damage by 12%, Defense level by 12, and drains the opponent's energy.
Desolation: This ranged curse increases the player's Ranged level by 12, ranged damage by 12%, Defense level by 12, and drains the enemy's energy.

8. Scare Tactics
"Scare Tactics" is a book used to unlock the "Shock," "Horror," "Demoralize," and "Rout" abilities. When you read the book, it will be consumed, and all four abilities will be unlocked simultaneously.
When a player reads the book, a dialogue box will appear after a prior confirmation, displaying the message: "You cannot understand the words, but as the hairs on your neck stand on end, your very being fills with an inexplicable fear. For the first time in your life, you feel like you truly know fear. You have unlocked the magical abilities Shock (basic) and Horror (threshold), and the ranged abilities Demoralize (basic) and Rout (threshold)."
If you attempt to read another copy of the book after unlocking the abilities, the dialogue box will indicate: "You have already unlocked the Shock, Horror, Demoralize, and Rout abilities. Perhaps you can pass your newfound understanding of fear onto others."
While this item is free, only members have access to it. Non-member players can only obtain it through trade. This means that, unlike melee combat variants, the "Shock," "Horror," "Demoralize," and "Rout" abilities are inaccessible in non-member Ironman mode.
9. Greater Flurry ability codex
The Greater Flurry ability codex is dropped by Astellarn in the Dragonkin Laboratory. It can be used to unlock the Greater Flurry ability.

12. Ingenuity of the Humans ability codex
The "Human Ingenuity" ability codex is an item that, when read, unlocks the "Human Ingenuity" ability, consuming the codex itself in the process. This ability ensures that the next spell or ability used will hit the target regardless of the accuracy chance.
To create this ability codex, you must first discover it at an Inventor's workbench with an Invention level of 114. Subsequently, it can be crafted in the 'Combat support' section of the same workbench.
It's noteworthy that this codex and its ability replaced the old "Human Camouflage" ability, which was removed on August 19, 2019. Crafting the codex incurs double the cost; however, the ability doesn't require maintenance.
It's important to mention that the "Human Ingenuity" ability cannot be used in Legacy combat mode, unlike the now discontinued "Human Camouflage" ability.

This codex can be created using a lectern and 750 codex pages. It is consumed upon use. In addition to this version, there's another tradable variant that can be bought or sold between players or through the Grand Exchange, requiring only 500 codex pages for its creation.
To acquire the necessary codex pages for this codex, it's estimated to take around 9 hours, assuming approximately 12 codex pages are collected per lap on an agility course, which equates to about 84 codex pages per hour.
Once the "Surge" ability has been enhanced with this codex, further readings have no effect, and the codex doesn't get destroyed when attempting to read it.
17. Double Escape codex
The Double Escape codex is an item that can be used to unlock an upgrade to Escape, giving it an extra charge with a separate independent and hidden cooldown.
The double Escape is now functional in the Wilderness, so long as you are not opted in to PvP and are not skulled.
It can be created with 750 codex pages using the lectern. It is consumed upon unlocking the upgrade after a confirmation prompt, and can't be read if the upgrade has already been unlocked. This version can be bought from or sold to other players or the Grand Exchange, but the untradeable version only requires 500 codex pages to create.
