Diablo 4, the latest iteration in the legendary series, is a stark, brutal, and gritty game that plunges you into a vast world teeming with perilous challenges and unimaginable treasures. Embrace the heroic duty of purging Strongholds to restore balance within Sanctuary.

Paragon Points: Paragon points serve as a foundational component in Diablo 4, pivotal to character customization. While each class's builds primarily hinge on the abilities selected from their individual Skill Trees, advancing in the game offers a deeper dive into character modification. The Paragon system facilitates this enhanced customization, allowing you to fine-tune your hero to best suit your playstyle and strategy as you delve deeper into the ever-evolving challenges of Sanctuary. Although this is vital at end game progression, we won't be going into detail in this guide and instead will be releasing a dedicated guide outlying every single efficient paragon board build as per your class choice.

Quests:

Quests are the backbone of your leveling journey. The main story quests yield a considerable amount of XP and guide you through the game's rich lore. However, side quests are just as essential. They provide not only additional XP but also unique items and gear, contributing to your overall character progression.

Main Story Quests: Always prioritize the main story quests. They lead you through the zones and unlock new areas, opportunities, and challenges. The main quests in Diablo 4 represent the crux of your adventure, serving as pivotal milestones that players must overcome to advance the storyline and unlock higher difficulty tiers. These primary missions, often procured through significant events, non-playable characters (NPCs), or as a progression from previously completed main quests, form the backbone of the narrative experience in Diablo 4. Engaging in these compelling quests is integral to unfolding the rich lore and evolving gameplay of this much-anticipated installment.

Side Quests: In Diablo 4, engaging in optional side quests presents players with opportunities to reap diverse rewards and amass Renown, the game's prestige currency. These secondary missions, offered by various events or non-playable characters (NPCs), add depth to your gameplay experience while also offering significant enhancements to your journey through Sanctuary. Embrace these additional quests to fully realize your character's potential in the expansive world of Diablo 4.

World Events: These are dynamic, spontaneous events happening around Sanctuary. Participating in these events can give you massive XP boosts and valuable rewards. World Events in Diablo 4 represent dynamic, wave-style onslaughts that escalate in intensity, ultimately climaxing with a formidable mini-boss encounter. Upon successful completion, these adrenaline-fueled challenges reward you with a treasure trove of loot, complementing the spoils obtained from vanquished foes. Despite their fleeting duration—often wrapping up within mere minutes—World Events pack a potent punch of excitement and generous rewards in your Diablo 4 journey.

Zones:

Sanctuary is divided into various regions, each having its unique monsters, quests, and difficulties. The key is to navigate through zones appropriate to your level to optimize your XP gain and stay alive.

Scosglen: This is your starting area. The quests here are relatively simple, and the monsters are low-level, making it perfect for beginners.

Dry Steppes: After reaching level 10, Dry Steppes is your next destination. This desert-like region is rich in quests and resources.

Hawezar: A swampy region for mid-level players. Here, you'll encounter stronger enemies and more complex quests.

Fractured Peaks: The snowy region of Fractured Peaks is a dangerous area suitable for high-level players.

Kejhistan: A desolate desert region, Kejhistan should be your ultimate destination for the endgame.

Items:

Loot is a vital aspect of Diablo 4. Having the right gear can mean the difference between life and death. Diablo 4 features an intricate gear tier system, escalating from common to magic, rare, legendary, and culminating in the extremely elusive unique tier. Typically, the prevalence of gear tiers mirrors your character's growth trajectory, with common and magic items gradually giving way to more frequent drops of rare and legendary loot as you ascend in levels. Unique items, celebrated as potentially the 'Best-in-Slot' choices, are phenomenally scarce, and players may spend an entire Season without laying hands on one. The allure of these coveted items adds a thrilling dimension to the loot hunt in Diablo 4.

Item tier list Diablo 4:

Common (grey)

Magic (blue)

Rare (yellow)

Legendary (orange)

Unique (gold)

Note: Sacred & Ancestral items are not a specific type of rarity, rather a means of determining a better roll on an item. These will drop from World Tier 3: Nightmare (requires Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon) and is vital to continue your grind throughout Sanctuary.

Here are some critical tips for handling loot:

Quality Over Quantity: Instead of hoarding every item you find, focus on those that enhance your class abilities and stats.

Item Upgrades: Regularly visit blacksmiths to upgrade your gear, increasing their stats and enhancing your abilities.

Runewords: Runewords are not currently in Diablo 4, however it’s been hinted that they may be added later down the line. When or if they are, we’ll update this section accordingly.

Trading: Diablo 4 has a trading system where you can trade your items with other players.

Side Activities

In addition to quests and looting, Diablo 4 offers a range of side activities that are not only fun but also provide XP and other rewards.

Dungeons: These are multi-level instances filled with powerful monsters, bosses, and treasures.

World Bosses: These are formidable enemies that spawn in different regions. Taking them down can yield massive rewards.

Crafting: Crafting offers many benefits that will aid you in your journey throughout Sanctuary. There are (4) different artisans to utilize being the following:

The Blacksmith: In Diablo 4, the Blacksmith emerges as an invaluable ally, transforming obsolete equipment into vital crafting materials, upgrading your gear to max out their stats, and repairing damaged gear to ensure you remain combat-ready. Salvaging your surplus weapons, armor, and jewelry at the Blacksmith yields the essential crafting materials required for elevating the capabilities of the loot procured during your quests. Leveraging the Blacksmith's expertise is crucial for maintaining and enhancing your arsenal in the fight against the demonic hordes.

The Jeweler: Diablo 4's Jeweler serves as your conduit to crafting potent gems, which when socketed into your gear, significantly bolster your character's capabilities. Whether you're seeking enhancements in damage output, resistance, vitality, or damage mitigation, the Jeweler possesses the expertise and resources to fulfill these needs. Through strategic gem crafting and socketing, you can fine-tune your hero's prowess to suit your unique playstyle in the battle against the forces of darkness.

The Occultist: In Diablo 4, the Occultist's role is to offer players the choice of repurposing redundant Sigils or forging new ones. To avail of the Occultist's services, players must first demonstrate their mettle by triumphing over a Tier 3 Nightmare Dungeon or higher. Harness the power of the Occultist to maximize the utility of your Sigils, unlocking new dimensions of power and strategy in your ongoing crusade against the denizens of Sanctuary's underworld.

The Alchemist: In Diablo 4, the Alchemist plays a pivotal role in your character's development, offering the ability to concoct potent Potions, Elixirs, Incenses, and Crafting Materials. Leveraging the Alchemist's skills can significantly enhance your survival odds and combat effectiveness, providing a steady supply of health-restoring potions, stat-boosting elixirs, incenses for strategic advantages, and crafting materials crucial for gear augmentation. Optimizing your alliance with the Alchemist is key to achieving lasting success in the face of Sanctuary's relentless adversities.

Quickest way to level 100 in Diablo 4:

This will assume one of two things:

  1. This is your first playthrough and you’ve never played Diablo 4 (or you have but this is your first time playing on a new platform)
  2. You’ve already completed the campaign story on an account

If this is your first play through, completing the campaign as quickly as possible on World Tier 1 is your best bet. This will give you enough time to learn mechanics, enjoy the story, and get good starting gear. If you’d rather rush through the levels, this is still the fastest way of leveling if you’ve yet to complete the campaign.

If this is not your first playthrough and you want the most efficient and fastest way of leveling in Diablo 4, you'll want to explore what we term the "Ghoul Route," an efficient leveling path located east of Kyovashad, in the Fractured Peaks, just outside the Dead Man’s Dredge dungeon. This strategy centers around repeated dungeon runs interspersed with routing along a circular path exterminating Ghoul packs, facilitating dungeon reset times and minimizing downtime. Continue this process until reaching a minimum of level 19, ideally higher, to prepare for the next steps.

After sufficiently leveling, journey to the north-east of Kyovashad, towards the Bear Tribe Refuge. Here, undertake all side quests except "Blood Sermon" as it doesn't contribute to expeditious leveling. Completing the remaining quests leads to "Hammer of the Champion," requiring you to liberate the Stronghold Malnok, located south of the Tribe. Upon success, the Rimescar Cavern dungeon opens up, providing the quest item needed for completion.

Post-completion of "Hammer of the Champion," the side quest "Call of the Ancients" becomes available, opening a new dungeon within the Bear Tribe Refuge. This dungeon serves as your primary leveling location until you're prepared for the World Tier 2 Capstone dungeon, leading to World Tier 3. It's vital to note that the quest should never be fully completed to allow continuous dungeon resets and efficient leveling. Press E then select Leave Dungeon, log out, and then log back in to reset the dungeon. Repeat this until level 40-45 or play it safe and continue until level 48+ before tackling the World Tier 2 Capstone dungeon.

Transitioning to World Tier 2, complete the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon to unlock World Tier 3. On reaching World Tier 3, prioritize the Tree of Whispers for your first Nightmare Dungeon Sigils. Focus on Nightmare Dungeons at the highest manageable tier while maintaining a steady pace, supplemented with Helltide Events for additional materials, items, and experience. This strategy continues until reaching World Tier 4. For adventurous players, the second Capstone dungeon can be tackled at level 60-65, while more cautious players may want to wait until they're level 70+.

Unlock World Tier 4 by completing the level 70 Capstone Dungeon, preferably at level 65 or higher. From this point, continue to farm Nightmare Dungeons for substantial power boosts from your glyphs, ensuring you tackle as high a tier as possible without compromising clear speed. Don't neglect Helltide Events, as they still provide valuable materials, items, and experience for character progression.

Remember, while this is an efficient leveling strategy, it may not offer the most enjoyable gaming experience for all players. If this method doesn't suit your playstyle, feel free to explore other routes. It's also worth noting that this approach doesn't prioritize Renown progression, which could initially result in a deficit of 5 Skill points, requiring careful planning of your build.

PvP: Diablo 4 presents a unique PvP (Player versus Player) experience set within a dedicated battlefield known as the Fields of Hatred. Contrary to a fully open-world PvP system, these skirmishes are localized within two distinct zones in the Dry Steppes and Kejistan. Here, players clash against one another amidst a backdrop of PvE (Player versus Environment) mobs, adding a layer of complexity and unpredictability to the engagements. Braving the Fields of Hatred requires a fine balance of combat prowess and strategic acumen to triumph against both player adversaries and the ambient threats of Sanctuary.

Conclusion

In the vast world of Diablo 4, leveling from 1 to 100 is a monumental journey. This guide serves as a roadmap, leading you through every quest, zone, and activity that awaits in the perilous realms of Sanctuary. Remember, your journey isn't just about speed; it's also about enjoying the rich lore, stunning visuals, and captivating gameplay Diablo 4 has to offer. Good luck, adventurer, and may your journey be filled with victory!
