The latest Grow a Garden update has introduced multiple major changes that are generating a lot of discussion: the new in-game currency, the delay of the portal to the new trading area, an event with increasingly difficult missions, a new transcendental plant that could become the best in the game, and several changes that many players haven’t noticed.
Why wasn’t the new portal opened?

The portal was scheduled to arrive on Saturday, but at the last moment it was delayed. The reason? The developers are trying to save the game’s economy.
Currently, Grow a Garden economy is in terrible shape, which is why a new, much more stable currency is being introduced one that gives real value to items and player trading.
To ensure that no one could break the economy, the developers launched a contest:
Players could enter a test server and, if they found a bug that allowed duplication of the new currency, they could win up to $5,000.
Everything seemed perfect, but at the last moment a bug was discovered that allowed infinite currency duplication, which would have destroyed the game. For that reason, the update received an additional week of security adjustments.
Impossible trades from the event

Along with the update came a mini event where you have to trade certain fruits from your garden in exchange for rewards that, at first, seem very easy. However, as the streak progresses, the requirements escalate until they start asking for items you most likely won’t have in your garden, or plants that can only be harvested once per seed.
On top of that, the rewards you can get if you reach the highest streak levels are barely worth it, with the best possible prize being 3 gem chests at the final level, where you have a chance to obtain the new event pets.
Last-minute update
Today the trading system of the current mini-event was updated. Trades have now been reduced from 1 hour to 10 minutes, and it's also much harder to lose your streak. To lose it, you now need to go more than 12 consecutive hours without making a trade. Finally, rewards for higher streak levels have also been improved.
Is the new Transcendental Plant worth it?

This new plant has become the most expensive one so far without having any mutations, but the truly interesting part is its weight. At 4.75 kg, compared to the Maple Rasin one of the best plants in the game which weighs practically 2 kg, and remembering that lower weight allows for higher price scaling, this suggests that the Octobloom could become one of the best plants in the game. It has a lot of potential to be the strongest, although more in-depth testing still needs to be done.
Is the Chimera worth it?

Many players are wondering if fusing a lion with a snake (the Chimera) is a good idea.
1. What does the lion do?
- Grants a random Safari mutation
- Gives experience to the rest of your pets
2. What does the snake do?
- Can duplicate items purchased from the shop
- Works on both seeds and tools
- It doesn’t matter if the items are cheap or expensive
3. What happens when you combine them?
You get a single pet that:
- Gives experience
-Duplicates shop purchases
- Is easier to level up
- Is easier to mutate
For many players, this is better than using both separately especially if your goal is to progress faster without having to level up multiple pets at the same time.
Changes almost no one has noticed

A change many players overlooked is that rebirths no longer require specific fruits to rebirth. You no longer need to spend days or weeks searching for a plant with a specific mutation now it only requires money.
This means you can now:
- Obtain upgrades much faster
- Avoid searching for specific plants
- Progress much more easily if you take advantage of it
