Numulites are the predominant currency on Fossil Island, facilitating various crucial activities. They allow access to the Volcanic Mine, charging the Ancient wyvern shield, and entry to the fish Bank area, among other uses within the island. Their acquisition is diverse: they are obtained by defeating monsters, cutting sulliusceps, tracking Herbiboars, and excavating east of the Museum Camp. Mining in the Volcanic Mine also provides them. Additionally, it is possible to obtain numulites by exchanging fossils with the Fossil Collector, making almost any activity on Fossil Island a potential source of this valuable currency.
Sulliusceps are a type of mushroom found in the Tar Swamp on Fossil Island. Chopping sulliusceps requires level 65 in Woodcutting to chop.
There are six sulliusceps found throughout the Tar Swamp, indicated by the Rare trees icon, but only one is large enough to be chopped down at any given time, while all other locations will have sulliuscep sprouts in their location. Players must traverse the Tar Swamp to find the choppable sulliuscep, the location of which is unique to each player, so world switching will not change its location. Once chopped, the next sulliuscep will spawn, the location of which cycles through the same sequence over and over and is shown in the image.
To get to the first one, player can use either Magic Mushtree or rubber cap mushroom. The rubber cap mushroom is not recommended unless you have filled the mud pit with 9 bittercap mushrooms at the landing site. If you take the rubber cap without a mushy bed to land on you can sustain high damage. Hits up to 50 are not uncommon.

Herbiboar is a fascinating creature that skilled players can capture with 80 Hunter and 31 Herblore. To begin the capture, players must first track down the creature's footsteps scattered across Fossil Island. These tracks will eventually lead to a burrow, where the herbiboar has taken shelter.
Once players locate the burrow, they can kick it to startle the herbiboar, causing it to emerge just outside the hole in a stunned state. At this moment, players can quickly use secateurs or magic secateurs to harvest valuable herbs from the herbiboar's back. Depending on their luck and skill, players can collect between one and three herbs in this manner before the herbiboar makes a speedy getaway.
To begin tracking a herbiboar, inspect the rock, mushroom, or log next to the hunter icon on the minimap. There are a total of 5 spots where you can start. Here is a map showing the locations of the inspectable objects:

Another way to obtain Numulites is by facing the Deranged Archaeologist, a boss located at the southern end of the Tar Swamp on Fossil Island. To reach him, an axe is required to chop a swamp vine. Directly before his area is a spine mushroom that will occasionally hit passing players for 10 damage and apply poison.
In combat, he is very similar to the Crazy Archaeologist. He attacks from a distance by throwing books and punches or kicks players who get into melee range. His special attack is similar but considerably more powerful, capable of inflicting up to 56 damage per direct hit. Defeating this boss represents an alternative source for accumulating the valuable Numulites on Fossil Island.
Location:
Ammonite Crabs represent an excellent option for obtaining Numulites semi-automatically while training combat. They are located in most of the coastal areas and northern beaches of Fossil Island. Equipping a ring of wealth allows for the automatic collection of the frequently dropped numulites from these crabs, thus facilitating the accumulation of this valuable currency while performing other activities or remaining idle near these creatures.

Drift net fishing is a proficient technique that demands a Hunter level of 44 and Fishing level of 47, providing valuable experience in both skills. This method involves the utilization of drift nets to capture fish shoals within the Underwater area of Fossil Island. While it yields commendable experience rates in both Hunter and Fishing, it comes with the trade-off of requiring more active engagement compared to other passive fishing methods.
To access the instanced area, speak with Ceto located north of the anchor rope for a cost of 200 numulites. A diving apparatus and fishbowl helmet are strongly recommended to prevent oxygen level depletion underwater. This requires partial completion of the Freeing Pirate Pete subquest of Recipe for Disaster.
Location: Once you reach position A, you will find a boat and select the third option, "Row to out sea," which will take you to position B. There, you will find another boat and a chest in case you forgot something. Well, here you just need to right-click on the boat and choose the "dive" option.
