Nechryael (& Greater) Slayer Guide OSRS

1. Nechryael: are formidable demonic Slayer creatures, requiring a Slayer level of 80 to engage in combat. They primarily inhabit the Slayer Tower, where players can encounter them. There is also a stronger variant known as Greater nechryael, which can be found in various locations including the Catacombs of Kourend, Iorwerth Dungeon, and the Wilderness Slayer Cave.

One of the distinctive features of regular nechryael is their drop of rune boots, which is notable because rune boots are among the few boots in the game that provide a Strength bonus when worn. Additionally, nechryael are known for their frequent drops of seeds and combat runes, making them a potentially lucrative choice for Slayer tasks.

In combat, nechryael have the ability to summon death spawns to assist them during battles, with a maximum limit of two death spawns per nechryael. These death spawns have moderately inaccurate attacks with a maximum hit of 2, and their attacks can bypass the Protect from Melee prayer. Auto-retaliate does not function against them, so players need to manually click on the death spawn to engage in combat with it. Notably, death spawns won't be summoned if the nechryael is unable to retaliate, such as when they are safespotted. Moreover, the death spawns will cease attacking any player who moves more than 7 tiles away from them, which can be advantageous when facing the more formidable nechryarch.

Arclight, a special weapon known for its potency against demonic creatures, can be highly effective when battling nechryael. For the stronger variant, greater nechryael, players often opt for area-of-effect spells like Ice Burst or Ice Barrage in the Catacombs of Kourend to efficiently dispatch multiple enemies at once.

Greater nechryael: are formidable and advanced versions of the regular nechryael, requiring a Slayer level of 80 to engage in combat with. They can be encountered in several locations, including the Catacombs of Kourend, Iorwerth Dungeon, and the Wilderness Slayer Cave.

Much like their standard nechryael counterparts, greater nechryael possess the ability to summon up to two Death spawns during combat when engaging with a player. These Death spawns have the same characteristics and abilities as those summoned by normal nechryael. Due to their increased strength and damage output, it is advisable for players to utilize the Protect from Melee prayer when facing greater nechryael. This will help mitigate the damage inflicted by these creatures. Additionally, Arclight, a powerful weapon known for its effectiveness against demonic entities, can be particularly useful when fighting greater nechryael.

It's worth noting that unlike certain other Slayer creatures such as twisted banshees, mutated bloodvelds, deviant spectres, and warped jellies, which have unique superior creatures associated with their superior variants, greater nechryael do not follow this pattern. Instead, they have the regular nechryarch as their superior counterpart, although the drop table for the nechryarch corresponds to that of the greater nechryael.

In the Catacombs of Kourend, Greater nechryael are commonly dispatched using Ice Burst or Ice Barrage spells, allowing players to group them together for simultaneous attacks. To initiate this strategy, activate Protect from Melee, provoke aggression by attacking one of the nechryael with a fast ranged weapon or the Dinh's bulwark special attack, and then lead them to a corner with adjacent corners. This way, the nechryael stack on top of each other for efficient targeting. Since Greater nechryael have minimal magical defenses, prioritize magic damage-boosting gear like ancestral robes over conventional armor. Alternatively, prayer-boosting gear such as initiate or proselyte can extend your trips. Keep a watchful eye for Nechryarch spawns during your burst or barrage attacks, as they can inflict substantial damage through magic-based gear. Mitigate this by switching to Blood Barrage, using ice spells for safespotting, or temporarily leaving the area to lose their aggression and return later. While Greater nechryael can also be found in the Wilderness Slayer Cave, take caution due to the risk of encountering player killers. Finally, they inhabit the Iorwerth Dungeon in a single-combat setting, where a cannon can be used, making it suitable for those not employing multi-target combat methods. This location requires completion of Song of the Elves.
