A bronze, iron, and steel bar (all can be obtained during the quest).
10 Planks (can be obtained during the quest).
6 Molten glass (can be obtained during the quest).
Ardougne Teleport or a method to reach Ardougne.
Stamina or energy-restoring items for faster travel.
Speak to the Observatory Professor in the Observatory Tower, located south of Ardougne.
Locate the Observatory Tower, which is situated to the south of Ardougne. You can get there by using various methods, such as the Ardougne Teleport spell or Fairy Ring C•L•R.
1. Enter the Observatory Tower.
2. Inside the tower, you'll find the Observatory Professor. Approach him and right-click to initiate a conversation.
3. Choose the dialogue option "Chat 1" to speak with the professor and start the quest.
Providing the Items: You'll need to give the professor the required items, but this is done through multiple interactions. Speak to him three separate times, and each time choose "Chat 1." This will allow you to provide the items step by step.
1. On the first interaction, provide one of the required items, such as a plank.
2. On the second interaction, provide another item, like the bronze bar.
3. On the third interaction, provide the remaining item, which is the molten glass.
Inside the Observatory Tower: You should still be inside the Observatory Tower after providing the items to the professor.
1. Locate the Assistant: Look around the same room where you interacted with the professor. You will find the Observatory Assistant nearby.
2. Speak to the Assistant: Right-click on the Observatory Assistant and select the "Talk-to" or "Chat" option to initiate a conversation with them.
3. Continue the Dialogue: Engage in conversation with the assistant to gather information and progress the quest. The assistant may provide you with valuable clues and instructions on what to do next.
Speaking to the assistant is an essential part of the "Observatory Quest" storyline, and it will help you understand your objectives and move forward in the quest.
In the "Observatory Quest", once you've spoken to the assistant, your next step is to go up the east hill and down the stairs. Here's how to do it:
1. Inside the Observatory Tower: After speaking to the assistant, you should still be inside the Observatory Tower.
2. Exit the Tower: Exit the Observatory Tower and step outside.
3. Locate the East Hill: Once outside, you'll need to find the east hill. This is usually a path or terrain feature that leads uphill in the eastern direction.
4. Climb the East Hill: Head towards the east hill and navigate your character up the hill until you reach the top.
5. Descend the Stairs: At the top of the east hill, you should find a set of stairs leading downward. Click on these stairs to descend into the lower area.
In the "Observatory Quest", once you've descended the stairs in the lower level of the Observatory, your next task is to search all the chests until you find the goblin kitchen key. Here's how you can do it:
1. Lower Level of the Observatory: After descending the stairs, you'll be on the lower level of the Observatory.
2. Locate the Chests: Look around the lower level, and you'll find several chests scattered throughout the area. These chests contain various items, and one of them holds the goblin kitchen key that you need.
3. Search the Chests: Click on each of the chests to search them one by one. You'll need to go through all of them until you find the goblin kitchen key.
4. Finding the Key: The goblin kitchen key may be located in different chests each time you attempt the quest. It's most commonly found in the southeastern part of the room when you first go down the stairs. However, if you don't find it in those chests, rest assured that it will be in the last chest you search in the dungeon. The other chests you search may contain poisonous spiders, so be cautious.
5. Collect the Goblin Kitchen Key: Once you find the goblin kitchen key, make sure to interact with it to pick it up.
Once you have obtained the goblin kitchen key, your next step is to head north from the entrance in the dungeon, then go west to the kitchen gate, prod the sleeping guard, and either kill or trap him. Here's how you can do it:
1. In the Dungeon: You should still be in the lower level of the Observatory, where you found the goblin kitchen key.
2. Head North: Begin by heading north from the entrance in the dungeon. This will take you in the right direction.
3. Go West to the Kitchen Gate: After heading north, go west towards the kitchen gate. This gate is typically located in the western part of the dungeon.
4. Prod the Sleeping Guard: Near the kitchen gate, you'll encounter a sleeping guard. Right-click on the guard and select an option to "prod" or "poke" him. This will wake him up.
5. Deal with the Guard: You have two options here:
Kill the Guard: If you have combat gear and are prepared for combat, you can choose to kill the guard. Engage in combat with him until he is defeated.
Trap the Guard: Alternatively, you can choose to "trap" the guard. This option may not require combat. Follow the in-game instructions to set up a trap to immobilize the guard.
6. Open the Kitchen Gate: After dealing with the guard, you'll be able to open the kitchen gate.
Once you have successfully dealt with the guard and opened the kitchen gate, your next step is to go back and speak to the Observatory Professor with the lens mould in your inventory. Here's how to do it:
1. Return to the Professor: Leave the kitchen area and make your way back to the Observatory Professor, who is located in the Observatory Tower.
2. Ensure You Have the Lens Mould: Before speaking to the professor, ensure that you have the lens mould in your inventory. This item is essential for the next part of the quest.
3. Speak to the Professor: Approach the Observatory Professor and initiate a conversation with him. Choose the dialogue option "Chat 1" to engage in dialogue.
4. Receive the Molten Glass: During the conversation, the professor will provide you with the needed molten glass for the next part of the quest. This glass will be used to create the observatory lens.
After receiving the molten glass from the Observatory Professor, your next step is to use the molten glass on the lens mould. Here's how you can do it:
1. Ensure You Have the Molten Glass and Lens Mould: Before proceeding, make sure you have both the molten glass (provided by the professor) and the lens mould in your inventory.
2. Combine the Items: Open your inventory and locate the molten glass. Use the molten glass item on the lens mould. You can do this by right-clicking on the molten glass and selecting the "Use" option, then clicking on the lens mould.
3. Create the Observatory Lens: When you use the molten glass on the lens mould, your character will craft the observatory lens.
4. Locate the Observatory Professor: Make your way back to the Observatory Tower where you initially spoke to the Observatory Professor.
5. Ensure You Have the Lens Mould and Observatory Lens: Before speaking to the professor, double-check that you have both the lens mould and the observatory lens in your inventory. These are the items you will be giving to him.
6. Speak to the Professor: Approach the Observatory Professor inside the tower and right-click on him. Choose the dialogue option "Chat 1" to initiate a conversation.
7. Give Him the Items: During the conversation, you will have the opportunity to give the professor the lens mould and the observatory lens. Simply follow the dialogue prompts and select the appropriate options to hand over these items to him.
After giving the lens mould and the observatory lens to the Observatory Professor, your next step is to head back into the goblin dungeon. Here's how to do it:
1. Leave the Observatory Tower: Exit the Observatory Tower after completing your conversation with the professor.
2. Return to the Goblin Dungeon: Make your way back to the goblin dungeon, where you previously prodded the sleeping guard and accessed the kitchen area.
3. Navigate to the Dungeon: Re-enter the dungeon area by following the same path you took earlier.
During the cutscene that follows, DO NOT CLICK on anything in the observatory or you'll have to restart the cutscene. Here's how to complete this last part:
1. Kitchen Area: After returning to the goblin dungeon, navigate past the kitchen area as you did earlier.
2. Climb Up the Stairs: At the south end of the dungeon, you will find a set of stairs. Click on these stairs to climb up. This will take you to the next area.
3. Cutscene Warning: After climbing the stairs, a cutscene will initiate. It's important to note that during this cutscene, you should avoid clicking on anything in the observatory that appears on your screen. Clicking on objects during the cutscene can disrupt it, and you may have to restart it.
4. Observe the Cutscene: Simply watch the cutscene unfold without interacting with any objects or characters that may appear.
After the Cutscene:
1. Once the cutscene concludes, you'll regain control of your character.
Talk to the Professor Upstairs:
2. Head upstairs within the Observatory Tower where you are likely to find the Observatory Professor. He should be in the same room as before.
3. Right-click on the professor and choose the "Talk-to" or "Chat" option to initiate a conversation with him.
4. Engage in the conversation with the professor, and you may receive some final information or dialogue related to the quest.
View the Telescope:
5. After speaking with the professor, interact with the telescope in the observatory room.
6. To do this, simply right-click on the telescope and select the appropriate option to "View" it.
One of the final tasks is to talk to the professor and identify the constellation you saw through the telescope. Here's how to do it:
1. After Viewing the Telescope: Once you have viewed the telescope as part of the quest's events, you will likely be inside the observatory room in the Observatory Tower.
2. Locate the Observatory Professor: The Observatory Professor should be in the same room as you. Approach him.
3. Talk to the Professor: Right-click on the professor and select the "Talk-to" or "Chat" option to initiate a conversation with him.
4. Identify the Constellation: During the conversation, the professor will ask you to identify the constellation you saw through the telescope. This will be based on your previous observations.
5. Select the Correct Constellation: Choose the option corresponding to the constellation you observed. The correct constellation will vary from one playthrough to another.
6. Complete the Quest: Once you have correctly identified the constellation, you will have successfully completed the "Observatory Quest." You may receive quest rewards, experience, and quest points at this point.
Identifying the constellation is the final step in the "Observatory Quest," and it signifies the completion of the quest's storyline. Enjoy your rewards and quest points!
