Walkthrough

To initiate the quest, approach Edmond in the garden of his residence located in East Ardougne, north of the Flying Horse Inn. (You can pick up a cabbage and spade from Edmond's garden if necessary.) He will inform you that Elena has been spreading rumors that the plague is not real and has been apprehended by the Knights of Ardougne, who accused her of inciting rebellion against the king. Agree to assist and then proceed to speak with King Lathas upstairs in his castle just south.

Engage in conversation with King Lathas. He will disclose that Elena has been incarcerated due to disseminating false information about the plague. As he has previously explained, the deception is a necessary measure, and he cannot risk Elena exposing the truth, which could jeopardize everything, including the imminent threat posed by the Dark Lord. Consequently, he must keep her imprisoned.

Return to Edmond and provide him with an account of your activities since the events of the Plague City quest, summarizing the entire questline. He will then reveal that Elena is being held captive in the city prison beneath the castle. Edmond implores you to assume the identity of an Ardougne Knight undercover and devise a plan to liberate her.

To proceed, you'll need a steel full helm, steel platebody, steel platelegs, red dye, purple dye, and a piece of silk. Apply the red dye to the steel full helm to acquire an Ardougne knight helm. Next, interact with Edmond's wife, Alrena. She will provide you with a tabard, which should be combined with the steel platebody to obtain an Ardougne knight platebody. Equip the helm, platebody, and steel platelegs. Pure accounts lacking 5 Defence and thus unable to don steel platelegs must consult Edmond to transform the steel platelegs into Ardougne knight platelegs.

Engage in conversation with Edmond once more. He will instruct you to proceed to the prison, located beneath the castle.

Make your way to the basement of Ardougne Castle. Here, a guard will intercept you. Declare your name as Tim or Sue, gaining permission to proceed. Converse with Elena within the prison. She will convey her desire to escape through a grate leading to the Ardougne Sewers, necessitating sulphuric acid to dissolve the grate. This acid can be found in a cabinet in her residence. Head to Elena's house, situated east of Edmond's abode and adjacent to the log balance. Investigate the cabinet and select the thick, clear liquid, resulting in the acquisition of a vial of clear liquid.

Once you provide Elena with the sulphuric acid, return to Edmond while she makes her escape. He will divulge that she has already passed by and is concealing herself to evade recapture. Edmond discloses that she is hiding in the Rehnison household in West Ardougne. The residence of the Rehnisons is positioned directly west of the Mourner's Headquarters. Engage in conversation with Ted Rehnison or his wife Martha, who will apprise you of the resistance's presence in the basement below. Investigate the eastern bed and descend via the ladder.

Speaking to Elena in the city prison.

Elena shares details about the inception of the Ardougne Resistance, an organization she formed after uncovering the falsehood of the plague, with the intent of dethroning King Lathas. In return, you recount your experiences infiltrating the mourners and your endeavors. In the midst of this conversation, Councillor Halgrive interjects.

Councillor Halgrive addresses you, acknowledging the council's allegiance to the king and their inability to override his decisions. However, he reveals a strategy where they can temporarily assume control in the event that the king is deemed unfit to govern. Halgrive elaborates on his scheme: to have you, concealed within your Knight of Ardougne disguise, incite discord among the citizens of Ardougne, all the while creating the illusion that you are executing these actions under the king's directives.

Causing an insurrection

To incite discontent among the populace and garner support for the Ardougne Resistance, you'll need to perform specific actions across West and East Ardougne. Keep in mind that you don't have to engage with every individual on the list; your goal is to convert a total of 80 members to the Resistance.

The Ardougne Resistance.

In West Ardougne: Disguised as a mourner, undertake the following actions to provoke anger among the residents:

1. Speak to the priest and demand taxes (+6).

2. Ignite the grain sacks inside the church to cause a fire (+8).

3. Inform Nurse Sarah, found in the south-west corner behind the church, about retraining (+6).

4. Set fire to the grain sacks outside the general store (+8).

5. Approach Chadwell in the general store and inform him about new taxes (+4).

6. Burn the grain sacks in the central Civic Office, located next to the clerk (+8).

In East Ardougne: While dressed as an Ardougne Knight, undertake these actions to rile up the populace:

1. Engage in conversation with everyone in the market square, including the town crier. Inform them about the new taxes:

Silk merchant (+2)

West Baker (+4)

East Baker (+4)

Silver merchant (+2)

Gem merchant (+2)

Fur trader (+2)

Spice seller (+2)

Town Crier (+8)

Announcing taxes to a silver merchant.

2. Speak with Zenesha, the armor store owner south of the square, regarding the new taxes (+3).

3. Converse with the estate agent and disclose details about the new taxes (+2).

4. Approach Probita at the Pet Store and discuss taxes (+2).

5. Speak to either Kortan or Aemad in the general store about the taxes (+4).

6. Have a conversation with the priest in the church about the new taxes (+6).

7. Engage Doctor Orbon in the church in a discussion about retraining (+6).

8. Approach Richard at the farm north of Ardougne and discuss the new taxes (+4).

9. Set fire to the grain sacks outside the farm located north of Ardougne (+4).

10. Talk to the Bartender at the Flying Horse Inn, just north of the castle, about the new taxes (+6).

11. Ignite the fish barrels at the Ardougne docks (+4).

Remember, your objective is to convert a total of 80 individuals to the Ardougne Resistance by stirring up dissatisfaction among the citizens of both West and East Ardougne.

Once you're prepared for the impending battle, make your way back to the Rehnison Household in West Ardougne. Enter the basement through the trapdoor under the bed, and initiate a conversation with Elena to initiate the Battle of West Ardougne.

The battle is divided into three parts, each marked by a kill counter displayed in the chatbox. Resistance fighters will aid you in combat during each part. Utilizing the "Protect from Melee" prayer will safeguard you from all damage, but well-equipped players might find that decent armor can mitigate most damage. An alternative approach involves using Guthan the Infested's equipment, which eliminates the need for food or prayer. Mages can employ the cornering technique to gather enemies and use burst or barrage spells for more efficient kills. Additionally, despite some mourners wielding crystal halberds, their attack range is 1, allowing them to be trapped in corners or safespotted.

The resistance fight the mourners of West Ardougne.

First Part: Eliminate 10 Mourners

Level 24 (3)

Level 51 (5)

Level 106 (2)

Second Part: Descend via the trapdoor to the lower level and defeat 11 Mourners. You will face:

Level 24 (3)

Level 51 (4)

Level 106 (4)

Note: If you leave the battle after reaching the second part, when you return, you will start from the lower level and won't have to defeat the initial 10 Mourners again.

After the second part, a break in the battle allows you to return to a bank and replenish your supplies if necessary. Initiate conversation with Elena or Councillor Halgrive to launch the Battle of East Ardougne. Some of the NPCs are located on the 1st floor of buildings.

East Ardougne Battle:

Knight of Ardougne (level 27) (5)

Paladin (level 49) (6)

Knight of Ardougne (level 53) (2)

Paladin (level 121) (2)

Upon successfully defeating all of King Lathas' guards, a cut-scene ensues. During this scene, resistance fighters uncover King Lathas, hidden within a wardrobe. You'll have the opportunity to engage in conversation with the king and inquire about his motivations throughout the quest series. Ultimately, he is sentenced to death by the citizens of Ardougne. Following the execution, Hooded Figures intervene, rendering you unconscious and transporting you to the Iorwerth Camp.

Lathas is sentenced to death.

Arianwyn's plan

A lengthy cutscene unfolds, during which you and Elena are brought before Lord Iorwerth. Just as you're on the brink of being apprehended, a timely intervention occurs. Arianwyn and the elf resistance emerge to rescue you from captivity. Lord Iorwerth discloses that he deceived King Lathas, exploiting his access to West Ardougne as a means to reach the Temple of Light and invoke Seren. However, Arianwyn counters this narrative, believing Seren to be deceased. Lord Iorwerth's understanding had been the same until he managed to break one of the seals within the Grand Library. There, he uncovered a fragment of Seren's essence ensnared within the Temple. He permits the rebels to depart, presuming they could be valuable assets in their plans, all the while unaware of the truth.

Upon returning to Lletya, Arianwyn convenes a gathering and enlists your assistance in notifying both Ysgawyn and Elena. Ysgawyn can be located on the upper platform of Lletya, so it's advisable to speak to him first. Afterward, Elena can be found near the southwest corner by the pond. It's essential to converse with Ysgawyn before Elena makes an appearance. Once you've spoken to Elena, circle back to Arianwyn and initiate dialogue to initiate the meeting.

The assembly delves into the historical context of the elves, starting from the aftermath of the God Wars to the ongoing internal strife within the elven community. The narrative encompasses the transformation of Prifddinas into a crystal seed due to the civil war and how the Grand Library suffered the same fate. Lord Iorwerth asserts that he accessed the library, claiming knowledge from within. Following this discussion, it's decided that you and Arianwyn will venture into the Waterfall Dungeon, hoping to uncover any traces left by King Baxtorian that might elucidate the nature of the Seren fragment.

Don't forget to interact with Arianwyn after the meeting concludes, as his involvement is crucial for your next destination at Baxtorian Falls

Visiting Baxtorian Falls

Embark on a journey to the Waterfall Dungeon (you'll need a rope). Enter the eastern room inhabited by skeletons and skeleton mages. Search the northern crate stacked with other crates to find a key. Proceed to the western room where fire giants reside, and continue past the two single doors. Engage Arianwyn in conversation within this area. He will provide you with a book titled "Ode to Eternity," accompanied by a riddle. The riddle necessitates utilizing items on the pillars located around the tomb.

The player and Elena are brought before Lord Iorwerth.

Important Notes: Be cautious, as placing items on incorrect pillars will require you to reacquire the items. Additionally, each time you enter the room, the order of numbers associated with the pillars will change. If you exit the room before completing the puzzle, you may have the chance to resume it or reposition the incorrectly placed item on the respective pillar.

Each of the six items corresponds to a number:

1. Nature rune

2. Flowers from mithril seeds or an irit leaf

3. Black knife or black dagger

4. Wine of Zamorak or Zamorak brew(4)

5. Adamant chainbody

6. Cabbage

Labeled pillars.

As the layout of the pillars is randomized, you'll need to inspect them to discern the proper order. Make sure to read the book before positioning any items.

Here's the puzzle-solving process:

1. The south-west pillar will indicate its associated number. Place the item corresponding to this number on the south-west pillar.

2. The west pillar will state that it isn't opposite to a number. Position the item corresponding to this number on the south-east pillar.

3. The north-west pillar will specify the number it is next to. This number corresponds to the item to be placed on the west pillar.

4. The north-east pillar will reveal the number it is opposite to. This number corresponds to the item to be positioned on the north-west pillar.

5. The east pillar will indicate the number it is not adjacent to. This number corresponds to the item to be placed on the east pillar.

6. The south-east pillar will disclose the number that will not be positioned on the pillar. This number corresponds to the item to be placed on the north-east pillar.

Baxtorian is freed from stone.

Once all items are correctly placed, the statue of Baxtorian will come to life, manifesting as Baxtorian himself. Arianwyn will teleport Baxtorian to Lletya. Take this opportunity to bank and gather necessary items for the upcoming section. Subsequently, employ a teleportation method to return to Lletya on your own.

Upon your return to Lletya, engage in conversations with both Baxtorian and Arianwyn. Baxtorian reveals a potential method of gaining entry into Prifddinas' Grand Library to unravel Lord Iorwerth's intentions. He proposes the use of a specially crafted potion that could bypass the enchanted city walls, which only Iorwerth elves and their allies can penetrate. Baxtorian suggests enlisting the expertise of Lord Amlodd, a magic expert, to break the enchantment.

Following this discussion, you'll be entrusted with the task of crafting the potion. Initiate a conversation with Elena, who can be found by the pond. Proceed to plant a cadantine seed in the nearby farming patch, specifically treated to yield elder cadantine. Elena will then urge you to verify if Arianwyn and Baxtorian have any tasks for you while you await the seed's growth.

Given that much of the forthcoming quest events occur in the elven lands fraught with numerous traps, it is advisable to keep an anti-poison potion at the ready. Failing to disarm tripwires will result in the player being poisoned.

To proceed, engage in conversation with Baxtorian and inquire about locating both Lord Amlodd and Lady Trahaearn. It's worthwhile to ascertain the whereabouts of both elves before progressing, as the order in which you find them is inconsequential. Baxtorian possesses a special crystal seed from Lord Amlodd, which he entrusts to you. Moreover, he provides a clue from Lady Trahaearn: "I will journey south from the well."

To prepare for the upcoming tasks, communicate with Eluned, situated in the south-west region of Lletya, just north of the patch where you planted the cadantine. Request her to enchant the crystal seed prior to continuing with the quest.

A map of the area, showing possible routes and the locations of the traps.

Finding Lady Trahaearn

Travel westward from Lletya and navigate through the trees situated north of the dire wolves. Proceed to dash across the clearing, ensuring to sidestep the tripwire. Continue westward through the three dense forests. Head north through the leaf trap, and finally, venture east to access the entrance of the Underground Pass cave. Upon entering, position yourself south of the Well of Voyage to examine the obstructed crevice. Subsequently, utilize your pickaxe to clear the blocked crevice, allowing you to enter.

Upon your entrance, you'll encounter an Elderly Elf clad in a damaged exoskeleton. Employ a runite bar and hammer to mend the exoskeleton. This act will unveil her true identity as Lady Trahaearn. She will then teleport back to Lletya.

Now, you're tasked with utilizing the crystal seed provided by Baxtorian, which you had enchanted by Eluned, to locate Lord Amlodd. Alternatively, if you chose to initially search for Lord Amlodd, you can return to Lletya—either by foot or by employing a teleport crystal if you have one—in order to craft the potion.

Lady Trahaearn is awakened.

Locating Lord Amlodd:

Upon rubbing the enchanted crystal seed, you'll be instantaneously teleported to the Enchanted Valley. Here, you'll encounter a Mysterious Figure who seeks your input on the condition of the valley. Feel free to select any of the available response options. The Mysterious Figure will subsequently unveil his identity as Lord Amlodd. He will then teleport you back to Lletya.

Crafting the Potion:

After successfully locating both Lord Amlodd and Lady Trahaearn, engage in a conversation with Elena once again. Acquire the elder cadantine from her. Proceed to talk to Arianwyn, who will provide you with the old crystal. Combine the old crystal with a pestle and mortar to create crystal dust. Employ the elder cadantine on a vial of water, followed by merging the crystal dust with the unfinished potion, resulting in the creation of the inversion potion.

Interact with Arianwyn to deliver the potion, initiating a meeting to determine the individual who will venture into the Grand Library. While Ysgawyn may express dissent, the majority of attendees deem you suitable for the task. To proceed, have another conversation with Lord Amlodd, located north of Arianwyn. Doing so will transport you to the Grand Library.

(Note: The wording and structure of the response were adjusted to convey the information clearly and concisely.)

The Grand Library of Prifddinas:

Note: Before you enter the library, be aware that any unlocked memories can facilitate teleportation to other unlocked seal locations. However, you must have previously heard the memory to enable teleportation; simply solving the light puzzle doesn't activate the teleport. This feature can help conserve run energy as you navigate the library.

Recommended items: Weight-reducing attire, stamina potions, summer pies, and at least 8 empty inventory slots. (Note: Charging your teleport crystals is advisable at this point if they're running low, as the area becomes instanced later on, and you won't be able to recharge them until much later.)

Engage in conversation with Lord Ieuan Amlodd to access the Grand Library. Should you log out within the library, you'll be ejected, but your progress will be retained.

The Seal of the Forgotten:

Since Lord Iorwerth has already unlocked this seal, the process is simplified. Merely approach the Seal of the Forgotten at the center and click on it. Walk to the seal indicated on the accompanying map, and then interact with the Seal of the Forgotten.

A memory of Seren will unfold, revealing that her hidden guilt is confined within the Temple of Light. Furthermore, an orb of light at the Gorlah shrine holds the key to unlocking this hidden aspect of Seren.

The Seal of Cadarn

Return to the central room and gather the seven hand mirrors (these will stack in your inventory) and the red crystal from the Crystal Dispenser. Proceed to walk towards the north-west from the dispenser and follow the magenta light beam heading north (Mirror #1 location on the map). At the last pillar before the light beam reaches the books and ceases, utilize Mirror #1 to direct the light towards the east.

Follow the magenta light as it continues eastward. When you arrive at the next pillar, employ Mirror #2 to redirect the light downward. This redirection will be indicated by the magenta glow at the base of the pillar. Descend the nearby stairs to reach the lower floor.

On the lower floor, use Mirror #3 on the pillar situated near the staircase, effectively rerouting the light towards the south. Trace the path of the light as it transforms into a blue hue and enters the southern room where the Seal of Cadarn is found.

Utilize Mirror #4 on the first pillar within the room, altering the light's direction to the west. Move to the north-west pillar within the room and utilize Mirror #5 to redirect the light southward. Now, employ the red crystal on the west pillar, changing the light to magenta.

Position Mirror #6 on the south-west pillar, prompting the light to travel eastward. Subsequently, place Mirror #7 on the south pillar, rerouting the light to the south and channeling it into the Seal of Cadarn. Interact with the Seal of Cadarn to proceed.

The Memory of Seren will disclose that although elves experienced a relatively extended lifespan, it wasn't enough. Seren had to endure the sorrowful process of watching her companions pass away, which inflicted immense pain upon her.

The Seal of Crwys

Return to the central room and engage the lever on the crystal dispenser. Proceed to gather the ten hand mirrors and four crystals provided by the dispenser. Traverse towards the north-west corner of the central room, following the magenta light beam heading north. When you encounter the first pillar, use Mirror #1 to direct the light westward.

Continue along the path of the light, and at the subsequent pillar, utilize Mirror #2 to reflect the light northward. Repeat this process at the next pillar, employing Mirror #3 to redirect the light westward. At the next pillar, make use of the fractured crystal to split the light.

Following the trajectory of the light as it proceeds westward, utilize Mirror #4 at the next pillar to reflect the light northward. Subsequently, employ the green crystal on the pillar, transforming the magenta light into a radiant white.

Proceed into the room located north of the Seal of Crwys. Ensure that the white light is striking the pillar positioned in the north-west corner of the room. At this specific north-west pillar, place Mirror #5 to reflect the light downward, directing it to the lower floor.

Utilize the adjacent stairs to descend to the lower floor. At the north-west pillar on the lower floor, position Mirror #6 to guide the light eastward. Pursuing the course of the light, employ Mirror #7 at the north pillar on the lower floor to redirect the light upward.

Ascend the stairs to access the middle floor. Here, install the cyan crystal within the north pillar on the middle floor. The cyan light will then continue its ascent, reaching the top floor.

Use the stairs to ascend to the top floor. Install Mirror #8 on the north pillar, causing the light to reflect southward. Proceed to position Mirror #9 on the south pillar on the top floor, guiding the light downward towards the middle floor.

Use the stairs to return to the middle floor. Place Mirror #10 within the south pillar on the middle floor, steering the light southward toward the Seal of Crwys. Interact with the Seal of Crwys to proceed.

(Note: The wording and structure of the response were adjusted to convey the information clearly and concisely.)

The Seal of Amlodd

Return to the central room and activate the lever on the crystal dispenser. Proceed to collect the 16 hand mirrors and four crystals provided by the dispenser. Move to the north-west corner of the central room, following the magenta light beam heading north.

As you follow the light, upon reaching the first pillar past the intersection, employ the fractured crystal to divide the light into two directions: west and north. Pursue the light's western path and, at the subsequent pillar, utilize Mirror #1 to reflect the light northward. At the next pillar, apply the red crystal to transform the light's hue to red.

Continuing along the northward path of the light, use Mirror #2 at the next pillar to redirect the light eastward. At the ensuing pillar, engage Mirror #3 to reflect the light once again in a northward trajectory. Proceed to the next pillar, where Mirror #4 will be used to guide the light towards the west.

Navigate around the pit to access the western side, where the light is shining. The red light will be entering the south-east pillar of the north-west room. Use Mirror #5 to reflect the light downward, channeling it to the lower floor. Employ the nearby stairs to descend to the bottom floor.

Position Mirror #6 to reflect the light southward across the gap, directing it into the room housing the Seal of Amlodd. Ascend the stairs and return to the location where you initially placed the fractured crystal (the first crystal).

Follow the magenta light towards the north and use Mirror #7 on the subsequent pillar to reflect the light eastward. At the next pillar, employ Mirror #8 to direct the light downward to the bottom floor. Descend the stairs to reach the bottom floor.

Utilize Mirror #9 on the pillar near the stairs to redirect the light southward. Proceed as the light shifts to a blue hue and enters the room containing the Seal of Cadarn. Apply Mirror #10 at the following pillar to reflect the light westward. Continue this pattern with Mirror #11 reflecting the light southward, Mirror #12 reflecting it westward, and Mirror #13 reflecting it northward.

At the next pillar, introduce the green crystal, altering the blue light to a cyan hue. Note that the cyan crystal doesn't fit here. To proceed, navigate around the center of the map to traverse the pit and access the room with the Seal of Amlodd. The cyan light should be entering from the south-west side of the room.

Within the south-west pillar of this room, introduce the yellow crystal, transforming the light into green. Following the light's path, employ Mirror #14 to reflect it eastward into the pillar directly in front of the Seal of Amlodd. Proceed to the pillar directly north of this mirror. Here, the red light should be entering the north-west corner of the room.

Position Mirror #15 to reflectthe light eastward. Finally, utilize Mirror #16 on the next pillar to reflect the light southward, guiding it to the pillar directly in front of the Seal of Amlodd. The Seal of Amlodd should now be unlocked. Click on the Seal of Amlodd to proceed.

Song of the Elves - The Seal of Amlodd puzzle solution.png

The Seal of Meilyr

Return to the central room and activate the lever on the crystal dispenser. Collect the 18 hand mirrors and five crystals provided by the dispenser. Proceed to the north-west corner of the central room and follow the magenta light beam northward. Just before the light reaches the books and halts, utilize Mirror #1 at the last pillar to reflect the light eastward.

Pursue the path of the magenta light as it travels eastward. At the subsequent pillar, use Mirror #2 to reflect the light downward. Descend the nearby stairs to reach the lower floor. Reflect the light southward using Mirror #3 on the pillar adjacent to the stairs. As the light transitions to a blue hue and enters the room housing the Seal of Cadarn, proceed to utilize Mirror #4 to redirect the light westward, and Mirror #5 to reflect it southward.

Follow this pattern by using Mirror #6 to guide the light westward, Mirror #7 to direct it northward, and Mirror #8 to reflect it westward across the gap. To traverse the gap and pursue the light, return to the middle floor using the stairs. From there, move south-west to access the south-west stairs, which lead to the lower floor.

On the lower floor, observe that the blue light is entering from the east side. Employ Mirror #9 on the pillar that the blue light is striking to reflect the light northward. At the following pillar, utilize Mirror #10 to redirect the light upward. Return to the middle floor via the stairs.

Within the pillar where the blue light is flowing through, introduce the red crystal. As the light ascends to the top floor, it will shift to a magenta hue. Ascend the stairs to reach the top floor. Employ Mirror #11 on the pillar where magenta light is entering, directing the light northward into the pillar adjacent to the Seal of Meilyr.

Navigate back to the middle floor, specifically to the intersection labeled as "Mirror #12" in the provided illustration. This intersection is positioned directly north-east of the Seal of the Forgotten. Here, introduce Mirror #12 and guide the light upward. Proceed to run eastward, utilizing the east stairs to reach the top floor, and return to the pillar enveloped by yellow light at its base.

Apply Mirror #13 to redirect the yellow light northward, then Mirror #14 to guide it westward. Return to the middle floor by using the east stairs. Access the north-west stairs to return to the top floor. On the south-eastern side of this room, locate the book handhold agility shortcut slightly south of the corner. Cross the agility shortcut to reach the east side, keeping in mind that you might encounter some difficulty in crossing.

Proceed to the location where the yellow light is present. Utilize Mirror #15 in the pillar to guide the yellow light northward, and Mirror #16 to direct it westward. Cross the book handhold shortcut back to the west side. Position Mirror #17 in the pillar to reflect the yellow light southward, and Mirror #18 to guide it westward.

The Seal of Meilyr should now be accessible. Proceed to interact with the Seal of Meilyr to progress.

Song of the Elves - The Seal of Meilyr puzzle solution.png

The Seal of Hefin

Return to the central room and operate the lever on the crystal dispenser. Gather the 20 hand mirrors and five crystals that the dispenser provides. Trace the magenta light to its northernmost point. At the location where the magenta light reaches a stack of books, use Mirror #1 to redirect the light eastward. Next, employ Mirror #2 to guide the light downward.

Proceed to descend via the available stairs, and apply Mirror #3 to reflect the light southward. As the light transitions to a blue hue by passing through the nearby pillar, use Mirror #4 to direct the light westward. Continue the sequence by using Mirror #5 to reflect the light southward, Mirror #6 to guide it westward, and Mirror #7 to send it northward.

Employ Mirror #8 to redirect the light westward across the gap. The continuation of this light beam will be addressed later. Return to the initial position on the central floor and venture south-westward until the white light is no longer visible. At this point, introduce Mirror #9 to guide the light southward, then utilize Mirror #10 to direct it westward.

Continue the process by employing Mirror #11 to guide the light northward across the gap. Once the light transitions to a green hue, you will need to return to where the magenta light is located and proceed westward to access the other side of the gap. On this side, you should be able to observe the green light.

Apply Mirror #12 to reflect the green light downward. Make use of the adjacent stairs to access the lower floor. Here, you will encounter both green and blue lights. Head to the south-west corner, where the green light is present, and employ Mirror #13 to redirect it eastward. Subsequently, utilize Mirror #14 to guide the green light upward.

Move on to the blue light situated in the middle-eastern part of the room. Reflect the blue light northward using Mirror #15, then guide it westward using Mirror #16. Finally, employ Mirror #17 to redirect the blue light upward. Ascend the stairs to reach the top floor.

At this juncture, both green and blue lights should be visible. Position yourself near the green light in the south-east corner of the room. Utilize Mirror #18 to reflect the green light northward. Proceed to the subsequent light pillar and redirect the green light westward using Mirror #19, directing it toward the pillar situated in front of the Seal of Hefin.

In the north-west corner of the room, locate the blue light and apply Mirror #20 to reflect it southward, targeting the pillar positioned in front of the Seal of Hefin. Engage with the broken Seal of Hefin to advance in the quest.

Song of the Elves - The Seal of Hefin puzzle solution.png

The Seal of Trahaearn

Return to the central room and operate the lever on the crystal dispenser. Gather the 22 hand mirrors and six crystals provided by the dispenser. Follow the white beam located at the south-western section of the central room. Attach Mirror #1 to the first pillar to redirect the light southward. Proceed to the next pillar and add Mirror #2 to reflect the light westward. At the subsequent pillar, use Mirror #3 to guide the light northward across the gap.

Return to the central room and follow the magenta light westward to locate the green beam again after crossing the gap. Install Mirror #4 on the second pillar after the gap to redirect the light downward. Descend one level and apply Mirror #5 to the pillar to guide the light eastward. Add Mirror #6 to the pillar to direct the light upward.

Ascend two floors to reach the top floor. Utilize Mirror #7 to reflect the light northward and Mirror #8 to direct the light eastward. Return to the middle floor and head to the south-east corner, where the Seal of Ithell is situated. Ascend via the stairs to reach the top floor.

Navigate to the west side of the room and use the floating books Agility shortcut to cross it. Proceed north-westward until you encounter the green light. Attach Mirror #9 to the pillar to reflect the light southward. Employ Mirror #10 at the next pillar to guide the light eastward. Place the blue crystal at the subsequent pillar located just west of the agility shortcut. The light should transition to a cyan hue as it crosses the gap.

Cross the agility shortcut to the east side. Immediately across, apply Mirror #11 to reflect the light southward. At the next pillar, use Mirror #12 to direct the light eastward. Continue the sequence by using Mirror #13 to guide the light northward, Mirror #14 to redirect it westward, and Mirror #15 to reflect it northward.

Return to the middle floor and proceed to the yellow light located on the eastern side. Place Mirror #16 at the eastern-most point of the yellow light, near a tower of books, to reflect the light northward. Continue by applying Mirror #17 at the next pillar to guide the light eastward, and Mirror #18 to direct it upward.

Use the stairs located slightly to the east to ascend to the top floor. At the pillar where the yellow light emerges, employ Mirror #19 to reflect the light eastward. Proceed to the next pillar and use Mirror #20 to redirect the light northward. Continue by utilizing Mirror #21 to guide the light westward, and Mirror #22 to reflect it southward, targeting the Seal of Trahaearn.

The Seal of Iorwerth

Return to the central room and operate the lever on the crystal dispenser. Collect the 26 hand mirrors and seven crystals provided by the dispenser. Proceed north from the point where the yellow light splits. At the first pillar, utilize the cyan crystal to transform the light into a green hue. At the second pillar, apply the blue crystal to turn the light cyan.

At the following pillar, use Mirror #1 to direct the light westward. Proceed to the next pillar and use Mirror #2 to guide the light downward. Use the stairs to descend to the bottom floor. At the pillar where the cyan light descends, apply Mirror #3 to reflect the light northward. At the next pillar, use the fractured crystal to split the light.

In the northernmost pillar, use Mirror #4 to redirect the light eastward. At the subsequent pillar, employ Mirror #5 to reflect the light upward. Return to the pillar where the light was split (with the fractured crystal) and follow the light eastward. At this eastern pillar, use Mirror #6 to guide the light southward. Continue by using Mirror #7 at the next pillar to reflect the light eastward.

At the following pillar, use the yellow crystal to alter the light's color to green. At the subsequent pillar, apply Mirror #8 to redirect the light northward. Continue by using Mirror #9 to guide the light westward, Mirror #10 to reflect it northward, and Mirror #11 to direct it upward.

Use the stairs to ascend to the middle floor. Move to the northern part of the room through the north-west corner and place the magenta crystal where the cyan light emerges, transforming it into a blue light. At the eastern pillar, use Mirror #12 to reflect the green light southward.

Return to the point where the yellow light splits and proceed to the east side. Apply Mirror #13 at the next pillar to reflect the light northward. Continue by using Mirror #14 to direct the light eastward, and place the red crystal at the subsequent pillar to change the light's color to red. At the eastern pillar, use Mirror #15 to guide the light northward.

Proceed by using Mirror #16 to reflect the light westward, Mirror #17 to redirect it northward, Mirror #18 to guide it eastward, Mirror #19 to direct it northward, and Mirror #20 to guide it upward. Ascend via the stairs to reach the top floor.

At the pillar where the red light emerges, utilize Mirror #21 to reflect the red light northward, Mirror #22 to direct it westward, Mirror #23 to guide it southward, and Mirror #24 to reflect it downward. In the north-west corner of the same room, you should see the blue light. Apply Mirror #25 to reflect the blue light southward, and use Mirror #26 at the south pillar to direct the blue light downward.

Return to the middle floor and interact with the Seal of Iorwerth to progress in the quest.

Finding Lord Crwys and Lady Hefin

Head back to Lletya and meet with Arianwyn. He will gather everyone for a meeting to hear about your discoveries in the Grand Library. Shock and disbelief will grip the room as you reveal the truth, except for Ysgawyn, who accuses you of falsehood and demands your capture. Baxtorian, however, places his trust in you and allows you to continue sharing your findings. With Arianwyn still reeling from the revelations, Baxtorian will step in to lead temporarily.

While Ysgawyn embarks on his quest to locate the orb of light on Gorlah, you will be tasked with searching for Lord Crwys and Lady Hefin.

Search for Lord Crwys: Speak with Baxtorian and inquire about the whereabouts of Lord Crwys. He provided the clue "The trees of my home will call to me" before his departure. You will find him to the south of the Iorwerth Camp (refer to the image above), on the western side of Isafdar. Make your way to the Elf Camp - using an Iorwerth camp teleport scroll is recommended. Cross the log balance and head southwest. As you pass a stick trap, you will enter a clearing. Chop down the dead tree located northwest of the lake or west of the trap to free Lord Crwys. Please note that you won't be able to cut the tree if you haven't asked Baxtorian for Lord Crwys's location.

Search for Lady Hefin: Return to Baxtorian and ask him about locating Lady Hefin. She provided the clue "I will walk across the water to the south" before her departure. Leave the village through the western trees, and then head south beyond where the magic trees are situated. Keep going further south until you encounter a trail of stepping stones over the tar lake. Cross these stones until you reach a small island with an NPC and a tent. Initiate a conversation with the Elf Hermit, who is none other than Lady Hefin herself. After a brief exchange, Lady Hefin will teleport away.

Recovering the orb

Make your way to the Iorwerth Camp, but exercise caution as the elves there will attack you on sight. Head to the northern end of the camp and enter the cave. Engage in a short dialogue and then proceed to eliminate the Iorwerth Warrior and Archer inside. If you can manage it, try to position the warrior behind the archer to hinder their movements. If this isn't feasible, activate Protect from Melee and dispatch the warrior first before focusing your attention on the archer.

Once you've successfully dealt with the hostile elves, retrieve the orb of light from the chest. With the orb in your possession, make your way back to Lletya and engage in a conversation with Baxtorian.

Fighting the Iorwerth Warrior and Archer

Tracking down Ysgawyn

Upon speaking to Baxtorian in private, he requests your assistance in locating Ysgawyn, who has been acting suspiciously. Baxtorian suggests that you talk to Elena, who can be found by the pond and the patch where you planted the cadantine seed earlier. During your conversation with Elena, choose the second option to inquire about Ysgawyn's whereabouts. Elena admits that she doesn't know where he went, but proposes that you might be able to track him by examining the entrance to Lletya. Be prepared for the upcoming challenges by bringing along some food and anti-poison items.

Exit the village to the west, passing through the "pass tree," and investigate either the mossy rock or mushroom nearby. Beware of the level-88 dire wolves in the area. This action initiates a tracking sequence akin to hunting kebbits.

As you proceed, follow the tracks and inspect the rocks just before the tripwire to discover the second set of tracks. Carefully cross the tripwire and inspect the southernmost inspect rock for the third set of tracks, which lead over a leaf trap.

Continue heading south and examine the elven lamp to uncover the fourth set of tracks. Trace these tracks southwestward and inspect the mushrooms north of the large rock.

Stay on the path and inspect the small rock northeast of the end of the tracks to locate the fifth and final set of tracks. These tracks lead over another tripwire, where you will find Iestin and Ysgawyn engaged in a conversation.

Click on either NPC to continue the dialogue. Note that if your inventory lacks substantial healing food like sharks or higher, consider returning to a bank to prepare. Also, if you're of a lower combat level, acquiring some prayer potions might prove beneficial.

During the conversation, Ysgawyn reveals that he has been conversing with his informant within the Iorwerth clan, Iestin Edern. Iestin provided Ysgawyn with sensitive information, including details about the orb of light, while requesting secrecy from the other rebel elves due to trust concerns. Following the dialogue, a cutscene ensues.

In this cutscene, Iestin divulges that Lord Iorwerth has learned of Lletya's location through a traitor among the rebel elves. Lord Iorwerth shared this intelligence with Iestin, instructing him to pass on the village's location. As you grasp the gravity of the situation, Essyllt is revealed to be assembling the Iorwerth forces for an imminent assault.

The player accuses Ysgawyn of betraying the rebel elves.

The attack on Lletya

Lord Iorwerth's invasion has plunged Lletya into chaos. A poignant cutscene involving Ysgawyn, Iestin, and Elena unfolds, and you are entrusted with a critical mission: rescuing two endangered children from a blazing building. Inside the inferno, search through various objects on either the ground floor or the first floor (depending on your instance) to locate the missing children. The scorching flames will delineate the areas you cannot traverse. If necessary, you can utilize the escape barricade west of the instance to replenish your food supply, as this opportunity won't present itself again before facing the Level-212 Arianwyn in a boss fight.

After successfully saving the children, a cinematic sequence transpires. Lord Iorwerth unveils a shocking revelation—Arianwyn is the traitor. Arianwyn's allegiance shifted once he recognized the Iorwerth's true intention of restoring Seren, which prompted him to coerce Baxtorian into surrendering the Orb of Light to save one of the children. Ysgawyn's rage compels him to attack Essyllt, only to be swiftly slain. Following a brief dialogue and ensuing cutscene, your next task is to combat Arianwyn to reclaim the orb.

As the battle ensues upon entering the instance, activate the Protect from Missiles prayer immediately. Employ hit-and-run tactics while attacking Arianwyn with melee gear. Pay attention to the color of his arrows, each consistently inflicting around 30 damage.

Arianwyn employs three ranged attacks in rotation:

1. A green arrow signifies a standard attack that Protect from Missiles can counter.

2. An orange arrow signifies a potent explosive attack. However, this attack is slow-moving, allowing you to evade it by stepping one square away.

3. A purple arrow is used to disable active prayers temporarily.

Upon defeating Arianwyn, another cinematic unfolds, depicting the surviving elves conducting a funeral for Ysgawyn. During the subsequent deliberations, the elves ponder their course of action. Islwyn raises a critical question regarding what Lord Iorwerth attempted to communicate to the rebel elves. In response, Baxtorian unveils a bitter truth: when he uncovered his wife's whereabouts, he dispatched the remnants of his army on a rescue mission, recognizing it as a trap. Driven by desperation to reunite with his wife, Baxtorian effectively sentenced his soldiers to death. This revelation ignites Islwyn's fury, compelling him to embark on a solitary mission to confront the Iorwerth forces in the Underground Pass.

In the course of conversation, Baxtorian discloses the two clues related to the last two elders—Lady Ithell and Lady Meilyr. He furnishes you with a clue scroll, prompting a trip to the bank to reassemble the necessary items for the impending phase of your journey.

Fighting the traitor Arianwyn.

Finding Lady Ithell and Lady Meilyr

To locate Lady Ithell, heed the clue she left behind: "I'll put my soul into my greatest work." Traverse Lletya, inspecting the walls of buildings for glowing white symbols. These symbols are conspicuous and manifest on both upper and lower floors:

1. The first symbol resides above the northern ladder, directly atop the spot where group meetings convene. Ascend to the room with the prayer altar and notice the symbol on the left wall as you enter.

2. Proceed north along the upper level until you reach a ladder in the room (upper level of the general store). Here, the second symbol lies between two chairs on the northern wall.

3. Descend the ladder behind you, entering the general store. The third symbol adorns the eastern wall, positioned south of the table and southwest of the exit.

4. Exit the general store, journeying south through the ruined town to reach the archery shop. The fourth symbol graces the corner of the wall just north of the table.

5. Seek out the fifth and final symbol within the bank, tucked discreetly to the right and situated behind the bank deposit box.

Once all the symbols have been touched, you will acquire a portion of Lady Ithell's knowledge. This newfound wisdom drives you to erect a statue in the village's central area, adjacent to the water icon on the map. Assemble the statue using a saw, hammer, and eight limestone bricks (note: a Flamtaer bag will not suffice). Subsequent to constructing the statue, engage in a brief dialogue. Kelyn will contemplate the statue, assimilating Lady Ithell's knowledge, and subsequently adopting the name Lady Kelyn Ithell. She will then teleport away. Return to Baxtorian, soliciting clues concerning Lady Meilyr to advance the quest (if this hasn't been accomplished previously).

The symbols found around the village.

Lady Meilyr

Ensure that you possess sufficient inventory space to disrobe all of your equipment before progressing. Approach Baxtorian once again and inquire about the whereabouts of Lady Meilyr. Her clue, "Follow the scrolls to find me," will prompt Baxtorian to present you with a clue scroll featuring coordinates. This directive guides you to a locale southeast of the Tyras Camp, situated in close proximity to a yew tree.

The most expeditious route involves teleporting to Camelot, followed by a southeastward journey to Catherby. At Catherby's pier, enlist the services of a trader crewmember for passage to the Tyras Camp Port. This service comes at a cost of 800 to 3,200 coins, contingent upon factors such as possession of the Ring of charos and completion of the Cabin Fever quest. Upon arrival at the Tyras Camp, traverse the camp's expanse and head north through the dense forest. From there, proceed east and subsequently south through the ensuing dense forest, located to the south of the grizzly bear and cub. Navigate past trip wire traps and journey southward to a dig spot positioned four tiles south of the triple mushroom cluster.

Take note: If you are unfamiliar with the mechanics of treasure trails, you might experience difficulty extracting the subsequent clue scroll even when standing on the correct spot. Should such an occurrence transpire, consult the Observatory professor to glean information on treasure trails. Acquiring a sextant, watch, and chart from him will aid your endeavor. Discard the erroneous Clue scroll from your possession, acquire a replacement from Baxtorian, and attempt the dig once more.

The location of the first coordinate clue step to find Lady Meilyr

Sealing the Underground Pass

Proceed to the dwarven camp located within the Underground Pass. You can reach it conveniently by using The Abyss to the Death Altar and then taking the tunnel on the western wall outside the altar. Alternatively, you can traverse from Lletya. Be cautious, as if you perish while battling Essyllt, you won't be able to re-enter from the Death Altar. The game will notify you that your items are being held by an allied elf. If you're journeying from the elven village, head north toward the Underground Pass. Navigate through the well and descend to the bottom level. You can access this level by either failing a bridge jump or by reaching the 'Descend Cave' location to the south on the perimeter.

Upon reaching the dwarven camp, engage in conversation with Baxtorian, who is situated in the middle. Subsequently, speak to Elena, located to the east. She will furnish you with seven explosive potions. These potions are stackable, so you'll only require one inventory space for them. Position these potions inside the holes situated north and outside the camp's perimeter. Afterward, engage Baxtorian once more. He will inform you that Lord Iorwerth desires a meeting with him and invites you to accompany him.

The rebel elves, ready to defend the entrance to the Temple of Light.

During the meeting, Arianwyn and Lord Iorwerth discuss conflicting views about the plan to free Seren, regardless of whether she becomes malevolent or not. Despite Arianwyn's disagreement, he decides to remain with Lord Iorwerth. The encounter escalates into an attack, which commences when you select the 'I'm ready' option.

Your task is to defend the camp for four minutes against numerous Elf Archers and Warriors who aim to breach the gate defenses. Failure will result in a reset. While these enemies are not consistently aggressive towards you, you need to engage them and divert their attention from the barricade. It's unnecessary to eliminate them; instead, your focus should be on preserving the barrier for the required duration.

To shift the enemies' focus away from the barrier, attacking them with any weapon will suffice, even without landing hits. Newly spawned enemies will prioritize attacking the barrier, so using a low-damage weapon or fast-hitting weapons like darts, knives, or the goblin paint cannon can be advantageous.

Following the successful defense of the barrier, elven warriors breach the defenses, and Essyllt inflicts an injury on Elena, necessitating his elimination. If you die or leave the battle, you won't need to defend the barrier again.

The player battles against Essyllt.

Essyllt, a level 236 foe, primarily employs melee attacks. He also employs two random special attacks:

1. Essyllt shoves you backward with his spear, stunning you momentarily, and subsequently launches a ranged attack that can cause substantial damage. This ranged attack can be negated by switching to Protect from Missiles.

2. Essyllt throws a potion at you that diminishes all your combat stats by 5. This attack isn't thwarted by protection prayers, but consuming a dose of Super restore can counteract the stat drain. Alternatively, high combat stats can render the drain inconsequential, as the drain doesn't surpass 5, leaving your stats at a maximum of 5.

Note: If your prayer depletes during the subsequent cutscene following the battle with Essyllt, you'll exit the cutscene and find yourself outside the battle. You can proceed down the tunnel to the bottom level of the Underground Pass to resume the cutscene immediately.

After defeating Essyllt, Lord Iorwerth manages to access the Temple of Light by passing through a crevice. Arianwyn and Baxtorian follow suit, and you do the same after ensuring Elena's well-being. Within the Temple of Light, Lord Iorwerth releases the Fragment of Seren despite Arianwyn's objections. Overcome by doubt and skepticism, Arianwyn wounds Lord Iorwerth after he frees the Fragment. Subsequently, the Fragment drags you into her realm, believing you to be a servant of Seren sent to eliminate her permanently.

Facing the Dark Lord

A player fights the Fragment of Seren.

Important Note: Prior to engaging in this fight, consider employing your emergency teleport and banking for preparation.

The culminating phase of the quest involves vanquishing the Fragment of Seren. Here are the tactics to employ during the encounter:

1. Exploit Her Weakness: The Fragment of Seren is particularly vulnerable to magic attacks. Recoil methods do not yield results, and summoning thralls is not possible.

2. Basic Attacks: She employs both ranged and melee basic attacks. When standing adjacent to her, she resorts to melee attacks, while standing at a distance prompts ranged attacks. Utilize the Protect from Missiles prayer to mitigate the damage inflicted. It's advised to maintain a distance, as her melee attacks are rapid and capable of inflicting significant damage in a short span compared to ranged attacks.

3. Special Attacks: Throughout the encounter, she cycles through various special attacks in a predetermined sequence, with each attack following roughly 15 seconds after the previous one. She provides verbal cues before executing each special attack. Importantly, there's no set limit to how many times she can cycle through these special attacks within a given phase. The sequence of special attacks is as follows:

  • First Special Attack: She teleports the player next to her. A subsequent melee attack ensues, so rapidly step away to evade the incoming damage.
  • Second Special Attack: Multiple clones of the Fragment of Seren appear. The genuine one is slightly lighter in color. Striking the authentic clone results in the false ones dissipating, causing the real Fragment to reappear.
  • Third Special Attack: Several beams of red crystals encircle the Fragment of Seren, leading to her healing until the beams are obliterated (around 4-8 hits per beam). Employ any attack to eliminate these beams. Swift attack speed weapons, like darts or a toxic blowpipe, are effective in dispatching them quickly. While they heal a modest amount, even slower weapons suffice. Utilizing Blood spells on the beams will restore approximately 5-6 health per attack, despite their meager health pool of 1.
  • Final Special Attack: The most perilous of all, this involves her teleporting the player near her and initiating an unstoppable attack. The attack's potency hinges on the player's hitpoints, ranging from the player's full hitpoints down to just one point less than their maximum hitpoints. After resolving the third special, consume food to approach your maximum hitpoints. As she teleports you, quickly consume food to either reach or surpass your maximum hitpoints, ensuring your survival.

4. Progressive Intensity of Special Attacks: As the battle unfolds, the potency of the Fragment's special attacks will heighten. Notably, only the initial attack remains unaffected by this escalation.

  • 1st Phase (Between 1,000 and 666 Hitpoints):
    • Second special attack generates 1 right and 1 false clone.
    • Third special attack introduces 2 healing beams.
    • Final special attack delivers a damage equivalent to maximum hitpoints minus 5.
  • 2nd Phase (Between 666 and 333 Hitpoints):
    • Second special attack spawns 1 right and 2 false clones.
    • Third special attack ushers in 3 healing beams.
    • Final special attack inflicts a damage equal to maximum hitpoints minus 3.
  • 3rd Phase (Between 333 and 1 Hitpoint):
    • Second special attack produces 1 right and 3 false clones.
    • Third special attack brings forth 4 healing beams.
    • Final special attack deals a damage corresponding to maximum hitpoints minus 1.

Remember, strategic positioning, judicious utilization of prayers, and swift reactions to the Fragment's special attacks are pivotal to prevailing in this combat.

Prifddinas restored

The gates of Prifddinas are opened.

After the intense battle, a brief cutscene unfolds, portraying Lord Iorwerth's dismay in the wake of the Fragment's defeat. Despite its turmoil and vulnerability, he perceives its innocence. The injuries he has sustained prove to be fatal, and he expresses his final sentiments, hinting at the consequences his actions have wrought upon Seren.

Following the downfall of both Lord Iorwerth and the Dark Lord, the scene transitions to the gates of Prifddinas. Just beyond the resplendent crystal city, Arianwyn awaits the player's arrival. Expressing gratitude to Arianwyn for putting an end to Iorwerth's destructive path, the player's appreciation is met with a more complex response. Arianwyn acknowledges his imperative actions but reveals his intention to depart the elven realm indefinitely. He grapples with remorse over his contribution to Lletya's demise and embarks on a journey of self-reflection and potential redemption, spanning the expanse of the world. Bid farewell by Arianwyn, the player proceeds toward the gates.

At this juncture, Baxtorian extends a warm welcome to the player, marking their entrance into the elven city. This gesture is particularly significant as the player and Elena stand as the first humans to tread upon the sacred grounds of the elven city.

Congratulations! Quest Completed!
