If you’ve just started playing Type Soul and chose the Hollow race, you’re probably feeling a bit lost about how to progress and evolve in the game. Don’t worry this guide will explain step by step how to go from being a simple basic Hollow to becoming a powerful Arrancar, depending on the path you decide to follow.

The main goal is to make your progression faster and easier while avoiding common mistakes that hold back many beginner players. So get ready, because here’s everything you need to know.

The Hollow Class

A Hollow is one of the four races you can choose in Type Soul. You will start as a Hollow, which are basically beasts. They can evolve and grow stronger to compete with other classes like Soul Reapers and Quincies. The progression line is Fishbone → Menos → Adjuchas → Vasto Lorde. The first two stages are easy to complete, going from Fishbone to Menos, but leveling up to Vasto Lorde can be extremely difficult.

Fishbone

When you choose the Hollow race, you will spawn in Hueco Mundo. The first thing you become is a Fishbone, which is the most basic among the Hollow monsters a small creature with a hole in its chest and a mask. This is the weakest stage of all, and your main mission is to evolve as quickly as possible.

To evolve, you must kill and eat other Fishbone. Whether they are other players or NPCs, you’ll need to defeat them and devour them by pressing the B key. Each time you defeat one and consume it, you’ll accumulate progression points. After hunting enough, your Hollow will automatically evolve to the next stage: the Menos, which are giant Hollows.

Menos

Once you manage to transform into a Menos Grande, you’ll see that your character is now a gigantic masked monster. Although it looks imposing, it’s really just an intermediate step in the progression.

Here you’ll learn one of the first special abilities of the Hollows: the Cero.

- If you’re playing on PC, simply press the N key.

- If you’re playing on mobile, you’ll find the ability inside your Kidō tab.

The Cero is a powerful energy beam that’s quite useful for defeating your opponents, and it will help you in the next stage of evolution.

Note: If after unlocking the ability it doesn’t let you equip it, simply exit the game and log back in.

Adjuchas

The next stage is Adjuchas, and to reach it you need to kill at least one or two Menos. Again, it doesn’t matter if it’s an NPC or a real player.

Use the Cero to make the fight easier, since Menos can be somewhat tough. Once you defeat one, you’ll automatically transform into an Adjuchas.

At this point, you are much stronger and have the option to remove your mask to become an Arrancar. However, many players don’t recommend doing this yet, since by doing so you’ll receive some nerfs (stat reductions) that could put you at a disadvantage later in the game.

The best option is to continue with your Hollow progression and aim to become a Vasto Lorde, which is the most powerful form of a Hollow before removing your mask and turning into an Arrancar.

How to Reach Vasto Lorde

The path to becoming a Vasto Lorde is longer and more tedious, but it’s absolutely worth it since this is how you’ll get the most out of the Hollow class.

When you are an Adjuchas, on the top right of your screen (on PC) you’ll see a Mask indicator. To evolve, you need to collect 25 Masks.

How do you get Masks?

You must kill other Adjuchas. Each one you defeat will grant you 2 Masks. This means you’ll need to defeat at least 13 Adjuchas to reach 25.

⚠️ Warning:

- If you die while collecting masks, you’ll lose 5 Masks.

- If you disconnect during progression, you’ll lose all your Adjuchas progress, and you’ll have to start over from scratch.

That’s why it’s important to be careful, fight strategically, and avoid unnecessary encounters with stronger players. It’s also highly recommended to do this part of the progression with a friend to make it much easier.

Final Requirements to Become a Vasto Lorde

Once you have the 25 Masks, you must complete one of the following two requirements:

1. Kill an Albino Adjuchas: These are rare NPCs that spawn around the map, although you can also defeat a player who is Albino. Once you collect the 25 masks, you yourself will also become an Albino Adjuchas.

2. Defeat the Vasto Lorde Boss: A special NPC boss of this type will spawn randomly on the map. If you manage to defeat it, you’ll complete the evolution.

After fulfilling either of these two requirements, your Hollow will automatically transform into a Vasto Lorde, the pinnacle of Hollow progression.

Vasto Lorde

Once you’ve become a Vasto Lorde, you can take the final step: removing your mask and becoming an Arrancar. To remove it, simply press Control + K.

What benefits do you get as an Arrancar?

- You retain the strength of a high-level Hollow.

- You gain hybrid abilities of both Hollow and Human.

- You unlock more powerful attacks, such as Cero Oscuras, which will appear for free in your Kidō skill list.

By becoming an Arrancar after having been a Vasto Lorde, you’ll have the best stats and a much more complete gameplay experience.
