World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery

Season of Discovery (SoD) Class Roles - Warcraft Tavern

World of Warcraft Executive Producer, Holly Longdale, thrilled the audience at BlizzCon 2023 by announcing an exciting new experience for WoW Classic: the "Season of Discovery" which will arrive with us this November 30 of this year.

In the "Season of Discovery," players will embark on an exciting quest across Azeroth to unearth hidden secrets and unlock abilities that will drastically alter the way they play their classes. Imagine the possibility of turning a Warlock into a tank, or a Mage into a healer. The fun begins with an initial level cap of 25, and as players progress and reach the maximum level, they will encounter an exciting additional challenge in new content designed for level 25.

One of the main attractions of the "Season of Discovery" is the introduction of a new 10-player raid in Blackfathom Deeps. This raid will feature bosses with entirely new and reinvented mechanics and rewards, promising to be an exciting challenge for adventurers. Furthermore, over the course of the season, the level cap will gradually increase by a few levels, bringing even more end-game content and opportunities for players.

With this exciting new season, World of Warcraft Classic offers players the opportunity to explore new possibilities and challenges in the world of Azeroth. The "Season of Discovery" promises to be a unique experience that will keep adventurers busy and entertained as they discover what this classic game has to offer.

Leveling and Zones in Season of Discovery

Leveling and Zones in Season of Discovery

One of the most notable changes between the Classic version and the "Season of Discovery" is the new level cap, initially set at 25. This marks an interesting twist in the gaming experience. However, developers have promised a range of new experiences in existing zones, as well as the completion and opening of previously unexplored areas, providing players with fresh opportunities to explore.

An exciting feature that has been incorporated into the game is the PvP experience in Ashenvale. Now, player-versus-player (PvP) combat deaths in this zone will trigger a special regional event. In this event, both the Alliance and the Horde will initiate the creation of their own NPC leader. Players from each faction must come together to protect their leader, defending them from enemy attacks. Additionally, other strategic camps have been added to the map. The faction that manages to defeat the enemy leader first will be rewarded with unique and powerful equipment and loot.

This new focus on PvP in Ashenvale adds an additional layer of competition and excitement to the world of World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery. Players will be immersed in epic conflicts as they compete for valuable rewards and demonstrate their loyalty to their faction. The "Season of Discovery" promises to be a fresh and exciting experience for classic game enthusiasts, with a unique twist that will renew the exploration of Azeroth.

Runes and Discoveries in the Season of Discovery

Discoveries:

Discoveries

Starting from level 2, your class trainer will entrust you with a mission to search for a rune. After completing this initial quest, you'll be on your own in the quest for "discoveries," which will not be marked on the map. This element adds an exciting touch of exploration to the game, revealing hidden places ready to be explored. Players are expected to group together both in and out of the game to collaborate in the search for more runes, fostering the formation of online communities.

Runes:

Rune engraving is a fundamental aspect of the Season of Discovery. It is a new skill that all characters acquire automatically when creating their character. This skill allows you to collect and apply new class abilities directly to your equipment. Up to level 25, these runes can be applied to chest, leg, and glove slots, and as you level up, more slots are unlocked.

It is important to note that runes are permanent and cannot be lost. They can be applied and reapplied at any time outside of combat. Furthermore, runes operate independently of World of Warcraft's talent system, allowing for greater flexibility and the ability to create combinations of abilities for damage, healing, and more. For example, if your group lacks a tank, you can use Tank Runes to adjust your group composition. Some runes even provide benefits that were previously faction-specific, such as those associated with Paladins and Shamans. The introduction of runes adds a new level of customization and strategy to the game, promising to enrich the player experience.
