WoW Cataclysm - Magmaw Boss Guide

Magmaw, a colossal lava worm, emerges from the fiery depths of the Firelands, summoned centuries ago by Ragnaros' Dark Iron servitors. This ancient creature personifies the destructive power of molten rock and flame, posing a formidable adversary to those who dare to challenge it.

Originating from the Firelands, a realm of fire and brimstone ruled by Ragnaros the Firelord, Magmaw was summoned through a complex and perilous ritual performed by the Dark Iron dwarves. This successful summoning was a testament to their mastery of fire magic and unwavering devotion to Ragnaros.

Despite his terrifying nature, Magmaw is largely considered by Nefarian, son of Deathwing, more as a nuisance than a strategic asset. Nonetheless, Nefarian has developed a peculiar interest in the beast, often feeding it with his failed experiments and even his own servants. This grotesque habit serves to dispose of unwanted minions and keep the worm satisfied and under control.

With his immense size, body covered in molten rock, and ability to spew scorching lava, Magmaw stands as an unstoppable force on the battlefield, demanding coordinated efforts to defeat him. His existence serves as a reminder of the destructive power of the Firelands and the dark ambitions of those who dare to wield it.

Magmaw's Abilities

1.  Magma Spit: Magmaw targets three random players (eight in 25-player raids) with a volley of magma, dealing 30625-39375 Fire damage to each. 

-  Pillar of Flame: Magmaw barrages the ground beneath a player's feet with magma, causing eruptions that knock players into the air and spawn Lava Parasites. Each eruption inflicts 69375-80625 Fire damage every 1 sec.

3. Lava Parasite: These slow-moving creatures infect players with Parasitic Infection when they attack.

-  Parasitic Infection: Burrowed Lava Parasites inflict 9620-11180 damage every 2 sec. for 10 sec. Affected players then vomit up the Parasite, which seeks a new host.

4.  Lava Spew: Magmaw spews molten lava at all players, dealing 14800-17200 Fire damage every 2 sec for 6 sec.

5.  Molten Tantrum: If unable to reach an enemy, Magmaw frenzies, launching Magma Spit at all players and increasing Fire damage dealt by 100% for 10 sec. This effect stacks.

6.  Mangle: Magmaw picks up a target, inflicting 110464-128377 damage every 2 sec. and severely crushing them after 30 sec. Impaling Magmaw releases the target.

-  Sweltering Armor: Mangle reduces the target's armor by 50% for 1 min.

7.  Massive Crash: Magmaw smashes one half of the room, inflicting 81400-94600 damage and stunning players for 3 sec. Players can leap onto Magmaw's pincers during this time.

8. Lava Worm Wrangling: Players can leap onto Magmaw's pincers, attach chains to a spike, and reel Magmaw onto it.

9.  Launch Hook: Players can launch a hook at the spike, chaining Magmaw for 3 sec. Multiple chains impale Magmaw, exposing his vulnerable head.

10.  Point of Vulnerability: Players can attack Magmaw's exposed head, dealing increased damage. Magmaw frees himself after 30 sec.
