[WOW] DRAGONFLIGHT SKINNING GUIDE

DRAGONFLIGHT SKINNING GUIDE

Leveling up Skinning in World of Warcraft can be a valuable investment for players who use Leather armor or those looking to make some extra gold on the Auction House. However, it can feel like a grind if you're new to gathering Professions. This guide aims to help you level up Skinning quickly in Dragonflight by providing information on key NPCs, the best farming spots, and essential items to watch out for.

Firstly, let's talk about where to find the key NPCs for Skinning. In most major cities, you can easily locate Skinning trainers who will teach you the basics and higher-level skills as you progress. Keep an eye out for them to ensure you don't miss any essential training.

Now, onto the best spots for farming. Skinning is all about gathering leather and other materials from various creatures in the game. In Dragonflight, some of the best places to start are in the open-world zones where you can find a plentiful supply of beasts to skin. Look for areas with high creature density and respawn rates, as this will maximize your farming efficiency.

Skinning in Dragonflight

In Dragonflight, Skinning plays a crucial role in processing the corpses of Dragonflight Beasts to obtain valuable skins and hides, which are widely used in Leatherworking and, to some extent, by other specializations. Additionally, skinners can craft Lures and Baits that aid in targeted material farming, such as the Temporal Dragonhead Lure and the Titan-Infused Creature Bait.

One significant change in Dragonflight is that multiple skinners can skin the same mob, provided they were in the group responsible for tagging it or if no skinners were present in the tagging group. This allows for efficient group farming and eliminates the risk of ninja looting by other players in the area.

Furthermore, Dragonflight introduces Crafting Specializations that can be unlocked once your Skinning skill reaches 25. These specializations act as a talent tree system for the profession and are powered by Skinning Knowledge. You can obtain Skinning Knowledge from weekly quests, one-time treasures in the Dragon Isles, Draconic Treatises, and first-time crafts.

It's worth noting that while you can eventually unlock all talents in the Crafting Specialization, it will require a significant amount of time. The sources of Skinning Knowledge are limited, especially once you exhaust the one-time treasures and first-crafts.

Best Class/Race for Skinning in Dragonflight

Devastation Evokers, with their unique Dracthyr mobility abilities like Soar and 2% baseline Perception gain racial, can indeed be excellent options for skinning in Dragonflight. Their mobility allows them to move swiftly through the terrain and quickly reach different areas to find beasts for skinning.

However, when it comes to the very best skinners in Dragonflight, Worgen Beast Mastery Hunters and Guardian Druids stand out. Both these classes have distinct advantages that make them highly efficient at skinning.

Worgen Beast Mastery Hunters have the ability to quickly round up a large number of beasts using their pets and AoE abilities. This allows them to kill multiple beasts at once safely, streamlining the skinning process.

On the other hand, Guardian Druids possess unique abilities like Travel Form and Feral Affinity, which significantly enhance their mobility and make them adept at swiftly moving from one location to another to find beasts for skinning. Additionally, they have increased skinning skill and speed, making them even more proficient at gathering skins from the beasts they defeat.

Skin Types in Dragonflight

You can gather four base skin types:

 Resilient Leather, which are skinned from any non-Dragon and non-Scalehide beasts, who give  Adamant Scales, instead.

Rarely, you can find  Dense Hide from regular beasts and  Lustrous Scaled Hide from Dragons and Scalehides, instead!

Some enemy types can drop unique types of skins such as  Rockfang Leather, which comes from Rockfang Cats / Tiger beasts. You can also find:

  •  Windsong Plumage from Ohuna Bird enemies;
  •  Crystalspine Fur from Crystalspine Quillbeast enemies;
  •  Salamanther Scales from Salamanther Lizard enemies;
  •  Pristine Vorquin Horn from Vorquin Stag enemies;
  •  Fire-Infused Hide from specific Fire Beast enemies;
  •  Cacophonous Thunderscale from Thunder Lizard enemies.

Leveling Skinning in Dragonflight

Leveling Skinning in Dragonflight is indeed one of the easiest primary professions, as it involves simply killing and skinning mobs without worrying about your own skill level or enemy modifiers.

However, it's still beneficial to consider the racial abilities of the character you are leveling and familiarize yourself with the knowledge points required to advance your Specializations.

You can level Dragon Isles Skinning to 100 at any of the places below. Every skinnable mob will give you skill points up to 100.

Ohn'ahran Plains

In the marked area, you can consistently find at least three Ravenous Rockfang mobs. These mobs have a hyper-spawning mechanic, meaning that they respawn quickly after being killed, resulting in no downtime while skinning. Additionally, there is a quest mob with higher than usual HP in the same area. If your character has enough damage, you can also take down the quest mob without significantly slowing down your skinning process. This makes the area an excellent spot for efficient and continuous skinning, allowing you to gather valuable materials without any unnecessary delays.

The Azure Span

In the marked area, keep an eye out for Wildwater Ottuks and Wild Crystalspines; they are scattered all over and pose little challenge to defeat. Additionally, you'll come across Bears, Goats, and Mammoths in the same vicinity, all of which can be skinned for valuable materials. Make sure to kill everything in sight, as the more mobs you slay, the more opportunities you'll have for skinning. Even the small "Calf" mobs, while only dropping grey items, can be easily dispatched with area-of-effect (AoE) abilities, ensuring they won't slow down your skinning progress. Take advantage of the abundant and easily accessible mobs in this area to maximize your skinning efficiency and gather valuable resources.

The Waking Shores

The Primal Proto-Drakes at The Waking Shores have really fast respawn rate. Also, a lot of people are questing there, so you often can skin the mobs without killing anything.

Best Skinning Specializations and Talents in Dragonflight

In Skinning, Specializations play a crucial role in determining which enemies you excel at skinning, and they also grant you the ability to learn how to craft Baits and Lures through the Bait Crafter tree.

The great thing about Skinning is its ease of leveling, which allows you to quickly unlock all three Specialization trees. We suggest starting with the Harvesting tree to benefit from its damage boost while leveling. Later on, you can decide which tree to specialize in based on your preferences and playstyle.

The Skinning Specializations UI is organized into three disciplines, each containing multiple sub-specializations that can be unlocked as you allocate points into their pre-requisite disciplines. This system works similarly to talent trees, giving you the flexibility to customize your Skinning proficiency and crafting abilities as you progress through the game. Take advantage of this system to tailor your Skinning profession to your liking and maximize your efficiency in gathering valuable resources.

Skinning Accessories and Tools in Dragonflight

In Skinning, you have the option to use two Skinning Accessories and one Skinning Tool to enhance your Skinning skill. Having a higher skill level in Skinning will result in better yields and an increased chance of harvesting higher-quality leather and scales from the creatures you skin.

One advantage of Profession Accessories is that they automatically activate when you start skinning, altering your appearance temporarily to reflect your profession. However, they will not actually replace your head armor, cloak, or weapon. The appearance change may persist for a short time after skinning, but it will revert to your original appearance when you enter combat.

If you find the appearance of your profession accessories and tool to be too frequent when you're not actively skinning, you can visit Mahra Doblárbol in Ruby Life Pools at the coordinates /way 61, 70. Ask her about Profession tools, and you will be presented with dialogue options. Choose the second option to limit how often you see your gathering equipment outside of skinning activities. This will allow you to maintain your desired appearance when you're not actively using your profession tools.
