Restoration Shaman

Restoration Shaman

In Phase 1 of Mists of Pandaria Classic, the Restoration Shaman stands out as one of the best healers thanks to its massive area healing potential and versatile support toolkit. Healing Rain is the core of its power, capable of producing astronomical numbers when the raid is stacked. In fights where positioning allows it, this spell can define entire encounters.

When it comes to cooldowns, Shamans don’t fall behind. Spirit Link Totem remains one of the strongest defensive abilities in the game, while Healing Tide Totem, Ascendance, and Spiritwalker’sGrace enable massive healing even while moving. Their additional utility like Heroism/Bloodlust, Stormlash Totem, and Wind Shear makes them invaluable in both raids and Challenge Mode dungeons.

While their personal damage doesn't quite match that of a Discipline Priest, they contribute passive raid DPS through Stormlash Totem. Plus, since they share gear with the Elemental spec, they’re an excellent option for flexing between healing and DPS as needed.

Their weaknesses include struggles with healing when the raid is spread out, and questionable mana efficiency when focusing on tank healing. Despite recent nerfs to Healing Rain, their full toolkit remains powerful enough to keep them among the top-tier healers in the expansion.

Discipline Priest

Discipline Priest

The Discipline Priest stands out as one of the most powerful healers in Phase 1 of Mists of Pandaria Classic. Despite recent adjustments to Atonement, its playstyle remains highly effective thanks to its unique ability to prevent damage rather than just heal it. In a raid setting, this has immediate impact protecting allies before damage lands can allow your group to bypass entire mechanics, such as skipping adds on Elegon.

With abilities like Power Word: Barrier, Pain Suppression, and Spirit Shell, the Discipline Priest offers one of the most complete defensive kits in the game. Additionally, its ability to deal damage while healing through Atonement makes it an ideal choice for meeting tight enrage timers and excelling in Challenge Modes.

Another major advantage is its overall utility. Mass Dispel, Leap of Faith, and Angelic Feather bring extra value in both dungeons and raids. However, it’s not without flaws: Discipline struggles with reacting to sudden burst damage and doesn’t scale well with multiple Priests in the same group due to Weakened Soul.

Mistweaver Monk

Mistweaver Monk

The Mistweaver Monk has received significant improvements, especially in its damage-based healing style known as Fistweaving. Thanks to buffs to Eminence and other recent adjustments, this specialization now offers some of the highest healing per second (HPS) in specific encounters.

One of its greatest strengths is the ability to provide consistent damage while healing the group often outperforming even Discipline Priests in DPS. This hybrid role makes Mistweavers ideal for raids facing strict enrage timers or those looking to optimize group compositions for Challenge Modes.

However, the Mistweaver’s main weakness is its lack of strong raid-wide defensive cooldowns. Revival is a powerful mass-healing spell that also dispels magic, poison, and disease effects, but it doesn’t prevent damage like the cooldowns of other classes. Life Cocoon can be useful in certain situations, but most defensive tools are self-targeted.

When it comes to mobility and spot healing, few can match it. Mistweavers are extremely agile thanks to abilities like Roll, Tiger’s Lust, and Transcendence, excelling in both movement-heavy encounters and healing spread-out targets.

While not a must-pick yet, the Mistweaver Monk has all the potential to become a core healing option as the expansion progresses.

Restoration Druid

Restoration Druid

The Restoration Druid remains a solid option in Phase 1, thanks to its Heal-over-Time (HoT) based healing style, which excels in encounters with sustained damage. Unlike other healers like the Shaman, the Druid is less dependent on the group being stacked, making it a great choice for fights with spread positioning.

With key spells like Rejuvenation, Wild Growth, and Wild Mushroom: Bloom, Druids can cover wide areas and keep the raid stable while on the move. Additionally, Lifebloom and Ironbark make them competent tank healers, especially in the absence of more traditional options like Holy Paladins.

While their healing cooldowns like Tranquility and Incarnation: Tree of Life may not stand out compared to other classes, Druids shine through their unique utility. Rebirth enables combat resurrection, Innervate restores mana to allies, and abilities like Stampeding Roar, Entangling Roots, and Symbiosis offer strong tactical value.

Their weaknesses include limited burst healing and a lack of damage prevention tools. They also offer minimal raid DPS, even with Heart of the Wild active.

Despite these shortcomings, with a recent buff to their baseline healing and no major changes to their core design, the Restoration Druid remains a key part of any balanced group thanks to its mobility, efficiency, and overall versatility.
