Attacks

The King Black Dragon (Echo) presents a formidable challenge for even the most seasoned adventurers. This fearsome variant eschews melee combat entirely, relying instead on a devastating array of dragonbreath attacks that can quickly overwhelm the unprepared.

Elemental attacks

The Echo employs a diverse arsenal of elemental attacks:

- Dragonfire: A slow-moving projectile that explodes on impact, creating a 3x3 X-shaped pattern of fire. This attack deals significant damage and requires careful positioning to avoid.

- Shocking Breath: This attack unleashes a torrent of electricity, leaving a 3x3 cross-shaped area of effect that drains all player stats for several ticks. Remaining within this electrified zone can quickly deplete resources and leave the player vulnerable.

- Icy Breath: This chilling attack freezes the player in place, rendering them helpless against subsequent attacks. Maintaining mobility is crucial to avoid this debilitating effect.

- Toxic Breath: This attack spews a glob of venom, envenoming the player on contact. The venom then erupts, covering random nearby tiles with toxic droplets. Stepping on these droplets inflicts further poison damage, demanding constant vigilance and careful movement.

Corrupting

The Echo also possesses a unique attack that disrupts the player's defensive strategies:

- Corrupting Dragonfire: This pink blast temporarily disables the player's prayers, similar to Vorkath's corrupting breath. This can be devastating if the player relies heavily on prayer protection for survival.

The Echo's Wrath

At 50% health, the encounter takes a dramatic turn. The Echo becomes invulnerable and spawns four Echo Black Dragons around the arena. These smaller dragons engage in melee combat and utilize a long-range dragonfire attack.

- Echo Dynamics: These spawns can be damaged by some of the Echo's own attacks, particularly Dragonfire and Shocking Breath. The Shocking Breath attack can be particularly effective against the Echo spawns, often dealing significant damage and potentially eliminating them.

- Aggressive Maneuvers: The Echo spawns are initially stationary, but they will begin to follow the player if they are approached too closely. This can create challenging situations where multiple Echo spawns may be affected by the same boss attack, potentially leading to chain reactions and increased damage output.

Enrage

Once the Echo spawns are defeated and the boss's health drops below 50%, it enters a furious enrage phase:

- Increased Aggression: The Echo's attack speed significantly increases, further intensifying the pressure on the player.

- Expanded Area of Effect: The explosive Dragonfire attack now covers a larger 5x5 X-shaped area.

- Prolonged Electrification: The Shocking Breath's area of effect now persists for a significantly longer duration, making it more difficult to navigate the arena safely.

- Increased Toxicity: The Toxic Breath now erupts twice, covering a larger area with toxic droplets.
