Grow a Garden - The Trading System is Back

Grow a Garden is about to receive a major update. Yendel, one of the game's developers, has shared a series of announcements on the official Discord server that have sparked excitement throughout the community. Among the highlights are a new pet leveling system, mutations with special abilities, the long-awaited return of the trading system, and many other adjustments that promise to enhance the overall gameplay experience. Below, we break down everything that's coming in detail.

The Trading System is Back!

One of the most requested features by players has undoubtedly been the return of the pet trading system. It had been removed due to serious duplication (dupe) issues, where some users used hacks to clone pets and disrupt the game's economy.

Yendel confirmed that the system was completely rewritten from scratch in order to prevent these security issues in the future. Thanks to this overhaul, the team is now working on implementing a brand-new trading system. If everything goes according to plan, this feature could be available as early as next week or the week after.

New Pet Levels and Mutations

Another major addition coming very soon is the pet leveling system, which will allow your companions to level up all the way to level 100. Although it's not yet confirmed exactly how this system will work (whether through active playtime, feeding, activities, etc.), all signs point to it being designed so that you can develop your pets over time, unlocking rewards as they level up.

But that’s not all: once a pet reaches level 100, it will gain access to a new mutation machine. This device will allow you to apply special abilities, buffs, and even unique cosmetics to your pets. According to Yendel, this could work in one of two ways:

- A shop-style system, where you choose which abilities to purchase using in-game currency.

- A randomized (gacha-style) system, where you pay to receive a random mutation.

Balance and Fixes

Another topic addressed was the general discontent caused by an abuse of admin privileges last week, which resulted in less engaging and poorly organized events. Yendel acknowledged the issue and assured players that this week they will aim to improve the experience with more interesting, frequent, and varied events.

This goes hand in hand with the need to refresh certain aspects of the game, as many players feel that some dynamics have become repetitive. However, this also reflects the community’s strong commitment to the game being so involved, players are always looking for ways to help the experience evolve and stay fresh.

Weekly Polls and Improved Events

In his message, Yendel also addressed recent criticism regarding the latest updates. Some players have felt that the new content hasn’t been as exciting as before. While events like the summer one were well received for their cooperative focus, many players miss more traditional events like the Easter or Bee events.

Weekly Polls and Improved Events

In response, the development team has decided to involve the community more through weekly voting systems, where players will be able to choose what kinds of events or mechanics they’d like to see in the game. This openness to feedback shows a positive attitude from the team, committed to delivering relevant and enjoyable content.

Additionally, the addition of a new development team was announced, which will allow for faster content creation. Now, two teams are working in parallel to improve the game something that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the frequency and quality of future updates.
