Lava Dragon Money Making Guide OSRS

Lava dragons are creatures found on the Lava Dragon Isle in the Wilderness, between level 36 and 42 Wilderness. They were once red dragons transformed after being surrounded by lava for an extended period. Lava dragons attack using melee and dragonfire.

Due to their low magic level, they are particularly vulnerable to magic attacks, making Fire Bolt a slow but profitable method of killing them. Players have the option to safespot lava dragons both inside and outside their isle. Inside the isle, there are piles of skeletons and edges that allow players to safespot the dragons. Additionally, some players choose to camp at the southern spawns outside the isle.

It is recommended to have 74 Agility and complete the hard Wilderness Diary to use the stepping stones for escaping the isle. This is especially important as the area is often frequented by player killers, so having the means to escape quickly is beneficial for survival.

Getting there

1. To access Lava Dragon Isle, there are two entrances available:

Main Gate (North Side): You can reach the main gate of Lava Dragon Isle by using the following methods:

Use a Revenant Cave teleport and then head north-east to the main entrance.

Use an Annakarl teleport and travel west to reach the main entrance.

Use a Games Necklace teleport to the Corporeal Beast lair or construct a Waka Canoe (requires 57 Woodcutting and an axe) and go north to use the Agility shortcut.

2. Agility Shortcut (Southern Side):

To use the Agility shortcut, which requires 74 Agility and completion of the hard Wilderness Diary, you can do the following:

Use the Wilderness lever (requires a weapon with slash bonus or a knife to cut a web) to teleport to level 55 Wilderness and then run south through the deep Wilderness gate to the northern entrance of Lava Dragon Isle.

3. For banking, you have a couple of options:

You can bank at the Mage Arena bank.

Alternatively, you can use an Amulet of Glory to teleport to Edgeville. Head south to reach level 30 Wilderness and then use the Wilderness lever (mentioned above) to access Lava Dragon Isle.

Requirements

As always, only bring items you are willing to risk. It is therefore strongly recommended to 3 or 4-items with a top, bottom, weapon and shield, preferably an anti-dragon shield. Anything else should be expendable and easily obtainable, such as God cape, book, or diary items.

At 74 Agility and the Hard Wilderness Diary, an Agility shortcut becomes available for back-door access in the south. Furthermore, completion of the Elite Wilderness Diary grants noted bones in the Wilderness.

Strategies

Lava dragons inhabit their isle in level 37-42 Wilderness, and skilled players can earn substantial income from them, provided they can avoid interception and interruption by PK clans. To stay safe, players can choose to safespot the dragons or telegrab loot from outside without entering the isle. Being near the lava dragons without proper protection, such as an Anti-dragon shield, can be fatal due to their deadly dragonfire breath, so it's crucial to wear only 3-4 risked items and keep the rest expendable and easily obtainable.

Magic and fire spells are effective against the dragons, making the Trident of the swamp an ideal weapon of choice. It's also recommended to wear Magic strength gear along with tanking gear like black d'hide body and black d'hide chaps to endure attacks from PKers. Players with 74 Agility or 69 with a summer pie boost, and completion of the hard Wilderness Diary, can utilize an Agility shortcut to quickly access the dragons and escape danger. They can use various teleportation methods, such as a waka canoe to the Wilderness pond and then running east to the shortcut, or using a games necklace to teleport to the Corporeal Beast's lair and proceeding north to the shortcut.

Other options include using a burning amulet to teleport to the lava maze or teleporting to Annakarl and running southwest. However, traversing the deep Wilderness to and from the Mage Arena bank remains more dangerous and risky. With cautious planning and skillful execution, players can reap lucrative rewards from Lava Dragon Isle despite its dangers.
