With the release of OSRS new Grandmaster quest, along with one of the toughest bosses the game has seen, players also gained access to several new training methods. One of the most interesting is a brand-new Fishing activity that, while not completely AFK, can reward you with up to 120,000 Fishing XP per hour once you've completed The Blood Moon Rises.
If you're still wondering how to unlock this activity, where it's located, or whether it's actually worth your time, here's everything you need to know before you get started.

Requirements to Unlock the New Fishing Method

Before you can access this new Fishing activity, you'll need to meet two basic requirements:
- Reach Level 78 Fishing.
- Complete the new quest, The Blood Moon Rises.
Once you've finished the quest, Drakan's Medallion will unlock a new teleport option that takes you directly to Castle Drakan. If you haven't completed the quest yet, this teleport simply won't be available.
How to Reach the New Fishing Spot

The fastest way to get there is by using Drakan's Medallion.
After selecting the new Castle Drakan teleport option, you'll arrive just a short distance from the Blood Portal. Enter the portal, then head over to the Fishing icon located in the new Sangvesti area.
If you've already unlocked the shortcut, getting there only takes a few seconds.
Note: To unlock the shortcut, you'll first need to rescue the Aranei Scout from a group of blood leeches south of the Apsul Hunting Grounds. Once you've done that, the scout will open a path to the eastern side of Sangvesti, allowing you to bypass most of the dangerous monsters in the area and reach the fishing spot much faster.

How the New Fishing Method Works

The mechanics are very similar to the Fishing activity introduced with the Moon content. Once you start, Leechfin will begin swimming downstream from the top of the river, and your goal is to guide your cursor toward them to catch them as they pass.
One thing I noticed while testing it is that you don't need to constantly spam-click.
At first, I assumed rapid clicking was the key, but after a few minutes I realized all you really have to do is move your cursor in the direction each fish is coming from.
For example:
- Right
- Center
- Left
- Center
- Right again
As long as you keep redirecting your cursor toward the incoming fish, they'll be caught automatically. There's no need to click frantically. Once you get the hang of it, the mechanic feels surprisingly simple and easy to keep up with.
NOTE: For this method, you will need a Big fishing net
Can You AFK This Fishing Method?
The short answer is not really.
If you leave your cursor sitting in the middle of the screen, you'll miss any fish that swim in from the sides, which means you'll lose both catches and experience.
To keep collecting every Leechfin, you'll need to continuously move your cursor toward the direction they're coming from.
The activity itself isn't difficult, but it does require your attention the entire time. It's more of a low-effort training method than a true AFK one.
Aquí tienes una versión en inglés más natural, manteniendo tu tono y aclarando la diferencia entre la estimación de la wiki y la experiencia real.
How Much Fishing XP Does It Give?
Each Leechfin grants approximately 32 Fishing XP.
According to early community estimates and information from the OSRS Wiki, this method can reach up to 120,000 Fishing XP per hour. However, after testing it myself, the actual rate is closer to 100,000 XP per hour under normal conditions.
That estimate also assumes you're doing nothing but fishing.
If you stop to process your fish with a knife every time your inventory fills up, your Fishing XP per hour will naturally drop since you're spending less time actively catching fish.
So, if your only goal is to level Fishing as quickly as possible and you don't care about making any profit, the best strategy is to simply drop your inventory whenever it fills up and keep fishing non-stop.
Is It Worth It for Making Money?

If your main goal is to make gold, the short answer is no.
Since Leechfin have no direct sell value, your profits completely depend on the rewards you get from opening Blood Sacs (which you obtain by using a knife on the Leechfin).
From these Blood Sacs, you can receive Vials of Blood, as long as you have empty vials in your inventory, which ends up being around 75,000 GP per hour on average.
And honestly, that’s not a particularly high number when you compare it to other money-making methods in OSRS.
