Ladies and gentlemen! It's official: Sailing has finally arrived today, November 19, 2025, in Old School RuneScape, and to unlock this new skill you must first complete the new quest Pandemonium. In this article, we will explain how to complete the quest, its requirements, a step-by-step guide, and the best way to train the skill up to level 12 in order to access the next quest.

Requirements to start Pandemonium

The quest has no stat requirements, but you must have:

- Hammer
- Saw
- Some method of teleportation that takes you to Port Sarim (you can use a Teleport to House or an Amulet of Glory to go to Draynor Village)

Once you are ready:

Head to the docks of Port Sarim.

When you arrive, speak with Will or Anne, either one works. They will offer you a job at the port and the quest will officially begin.

Pandemonium Quest

Once you are with Will and Anne, speak to either of them and continue the dialogue until you are given two options, where you will select that you are ready. You will appear on a ship, where you will learn the sailing mechanics. After the dialogue, they will instruct you to take the Navigator and head south.

Once you use the Navigator, the ship control interface will open, allowing you to control the ship’s speed and when to stop. You can also control the direction by clicking.

While sailing south as Anne instructed, pay attention to the minimap and to what Will and Anne tell you. On the minimap, a yellow arrow will indicate your objective. Once you get close to the target, which is a sunken pirate ship, Anne will tell you to stop the ship. After stopping, deploy the salvage hook to obtain a mysterious medallion and an ancient goblet. After showing them the items, Anne will throw you overboard.

You will swim until you reach Pandemonium. Follow the dialogue and you will appear in the tavern with "Squawking" Steve Beanie. Speak with him, then talk to Ribs nearby in the bar and select option number one. Finish the conversation with Ribs and speak again with Steve Beanie, ask about Will and Anne, then select option two. He will tell you to speak with Junior Jim, who is located at the docks.

Talk to Junior Jim and he will trade you a ship in exchange for the old cup you obtained. Once this is done, you will be teleported to the Shipyard dock, where you can board your first boat or raft. To do this, you must have your hammer and saw ready, as you will need to build a chest on your boat.

Once you have done that, speak again with Junior Jim and he will teleport you back to the Pandemonium dock, where he will give you the Captain’s Log containing the tasks assigned to you.

In the task required for the quest, you must travel to Port Sarim to collect a package and then return to Pandemonium. So, take your boat once again and head toward your objective. Open the minimap to check your route and be careful, as there are many dangers at sea that can damage your ship if you’re not cautious. Upon reaching Port Sarim, disembark at the dock and head to the ledger table, where you will pick up the package.

Then return to your ship and place the package inside the storage chest you recently built. After that, sail back to the Pandemonium dock, but you won’t be able to disembark immediately. First, you must fully stop your boat near the landing area, then retrieve the package from storage. Once you do that, you will be able to disembark. Next, go to the ledger table and deliver the package, then speak again with Junior Jim to let him know you have completed the task he assigned you. Finally, talk to Steve Beanie to complete the introductory Sailing quest.

How to train the skill up to level 12

To do this, you must complete the tasks found on the Notice Boards located at the ports. There, you will select the task that matches your current Sailing level, which will usually be delivery assignments. Pick up the package from the ledger table, sail to the delivery destination indicated by the task, and repeat the process.

When you reach level 7, you will be able to have two tasks active at the same time, allowing you to level up twice as fast.

Note: To easily identify where you will receive the package and where you will have to deliver it, you can look at the port crests. A clear example is the one with the anchor: Port Sarim, and the one with the parrot: the port of Pandemonium.
