Reaching level 30 in Sailing requires patience, materials, and a good training method. In this guide, I’ll show you the system that most players are using to quickly level up Sailing once you reach level 30, which is through the Barracuda Trials.

What are the Barracuda Trials?

The Barracuda Trials are a series of activities divided into 3 challenges. The one we are interested in for leveling up after level 30 is the “Tempor Tantrum” trial, which consists of completing obstacle courses at sea where players must deliver rum and lost supplies. Upon completing each course, you will receive Sailing experience and various rewards depending on the level. Each Barracuda trial has different difficulty levels.

Requirements

Before participating in the Barracuda Trials, you must upgrade your ship by installing certain improvements. You will need to build an iron helm, oak mast, and oak hull. You can do all of this by talking to Junior Jim and selecting the “Customise-Boat” option, which will teleport you to the Shipyard port, where you can modify your boat through the Boat Schematics.

Required materials:

- Iron Helm

3 Oak Planks
6 Iron Bars

- Oak Mast

10 Oak Logs
40 Iron Nails
5 Bolts of Linen

- Oak Hull

10 Oak Hull Parts
300 Iron Nails
20 Swamp Tar

Note: remember to have a hammer and a saw in your inventory when performing these upgrades on your ship.

You can also craft an Iron Keel which, while not required to participate in the Barracuda Trials, can still be very helpful.

How to Start in the Barracuda Trials

Once you reach level 30 in Sailing and have the upgrades mentioned installed on your ship, head south of The Pandemonium, where you will see the Barracuda Trials icon on the map. There, you will find Rum-Dashed Ralph, who will give you a full guide on everything you need and what you will be doing in the Barracuda Trials. After going through all the dialogue, you can right-click him to see several options.

Choose the “Start Trial” option, and this will open an interface showing the different difficulty levels, ranging from Unranked to Marlin. You can start with Unranked to learn the mechanics of this activity.

Here, you will have to navigate through obstacles such as rocks and storm clouds that will strike you with lightning, all trying to prevent you from reaching the finish line in time. However, you will also find whirlpools in the sea that give you a speed boost to help you complete the course as fast as possible. Each difficulty level will require you to collect a specific number of packages and rum to finish the course. Your goal will be to meet these requirements within the time limit given.

How to Repair Your Ship

In this activity, it is very likely that your ship will be destroyed or heavily damaged, so you need to know how to repair it or restore its health bar.

For this, you will need many Repair Kits: Oak Repair Kit, Teak Repair Kit, and Mahogany Repair Kit, each one being better than the previous. To create these kits, you must go to the Shipyard Port, the same place where you modify your ship, but this time at the Shipwrights' Workbench.
