WoW Forever introduces major changes to the races we know from WoW Classic. Traditional racial abilities have been modified, some have been removed entirely, and others have been replaced with new effects that could significantly change how players choose a race for each class.
The version also introduces a brand-new race for both the Alliance and Horde: the Skyborne . Both versions share several characteristics, although there are also some important differences between them.
This time, we're going through all five Alliance races and all five Horde races, breaking down what each racial ability does and highlighting the biggest changes compared with WoW Classic.
New Alliance Racials in WoW Forever
The Alliance receives some pretty interesting changes. Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, and Gnomes retain parts of their classic identity, but several of their abilities are replaced with new options focused more heavily on combat.
The Skyborne are the biggest addition, bringing a racial kit centered around mobility, regeneration, haste, and increased damage against Elementals.
Humans

Humans receive four racial abilities in WoW Forever, with one of the most notable changes being Will to Survive.
Will to Survive
This new ability removes all stun effects.
That could be especially valuable in PvP, where being locked down for a few seconds can be enough to lose a fight. Having a dedicated tool to remove stuns gives Humans a very different form of utility.
Perception
Humans retain Perception, which greatly increases stealth detection for 20 seconds.
This allows them to detect stealthed enemies and preserves an important part of the Human identity, particularly in situations involving enemies that rely on stealth.
Sword Specialization
Sword Specialization completely changes its focus.
Instead of increasing skill with swords, it now provides a 2% chance to critically strike with spells and abilities.
This is an important change because a racial traditionally associated with weapon use now provides a combat bonus that can also benefit different playstyles.
The Human Spirit
Finally, The Human Spirit increases Spirit by 5%.
However, Humans lose two of their classic racials: Diplomacy and the old Mace Specialization.
Overall, the race moves away from its traditional focus on reputation and weapon specialization while gaining a much more interesting tool against stuns.
Dwarves

Dwarves maintain a fairly defensive identity, although their racial abilities also receive some significant changes.
Find Treasure
Find Treasure allows players to detect nearby treasure and display it on the minimap.
This racial retains its utility outside of combat and can be particularly interesting for players who enjoy exploration and hunting for valuable items.
Stoneform
Stoneform remains one of the Dwarves' most iconic abilities, but it receives a significant modification in WoW Forever.
It now allows players to:
- Remove poisons.
- Remove diseases.
- Reduce physical damage taken for 8 seconds.
This makes Stoneform a very complete defensive tool, especially in situations where the character is exposed to different types of damage or negative effects.
Mace Specialization
The old Mace Specialization also gets a complete redesign.
It now provides 1% critical strike chance for spells and abilities, following the same general philosophy seen with other weapon specializations in WoW Forever.
Great Hunter
Dwarves also receive a new racial called Great Hunter, which increases damage against Beasts by 5%.
This provides an offensive bonus that can be particularly useful during certain activities and against enemies of this type.
Dwarves lose Frost Resistance and the old Gun Specialization, but gain a combination of defense, critical strike chance, and increased damage against Beasts.
Night Elves

Night Elves also receive some major changes, particularly through a new offensive racial.
Moonlight
Moonlight increases critical strike chance by 10% for 15 seconds.
This ability can create a very strong damage window, allowing players to stack important abilities during the period when the effect is active.
Depending on the class, it could become a particularly useful tool for maximizing specific moments of burst damage.
Shadowmeld
Shadowmeld also changes how it works.
It allows the player to hide and reduces the chance of being detected. However, canceling the effect restores threat toward enemies that remain in combat.
This creates a different interaction compared with the traditional version of the ability.
Quickness
Quickness provides:
- 1% dodge chance.
- 2% movement speed.
It's a relatively small bonus, but it provides both mobility and additional survivability.
Wisp Spirit
Finally, Wisp Spirit increases movement speed while dead by 75%.
Night Elves lose their old Nature Resistance, but gain an offensive racial that could be much more appealing for certain classes.
Gnomes

Gnomes receive one of the most interesting racial abilities in WoW Forever.
Eureka
Eureka reduces the cost of your next three spells or abilities, while also increasing their damage or healing by 10%.
This racial has a lot of potential because it isn't limited to a single class or type of content.
It could be especially useful for characters that need to chain several abilities together or want to take advantage of a specific damage or healing window.
Expansive Mind
Expansive Mind also changes compared with Classic.
It now increases maximum Mana or Energy by 5%.
This changes the traditional purpose of the racial and could have different applications depending on the class.
Engineering Specialization
Gnomes retain their Engineering specialization.
The racial makes Engineering devices more reliable, preserving the connection between Gnomes and one of the professions most closely associated with the race.
Escape Artist
Finally, Escape Artist allows players to break free from immobilizing effects and movement speed reductions.
Gnomes leave behind the old 5% Intellect bonus and Arcane Resistance, but receive a racial with significant potential for different playstyles.
Alliance Skyborne

The Skyborne are one of the biggest additions in WoW Forever.
Their racial kit is clearly focused on mobility, resource recovery, and haste.
Walk on Air
This ability allows the player to glide downward for 10 seconds.
It's primarily a mobility tool and could provide new ways to move around different areas.
Ley Line Reading
Ley Line Reading activates a ley line that provides 100% increased Health and Mana regeneration.
This racial stands out because of its ability to improve resource recovery and could be particularly useful while leveling or during certain combat situations.
Wind Blessed
Wind Blessed increases melee, ranged, and spellcasting haste.
This allows the racial to work across different types of characters instead of being restricted to one specific playstyle.
Elemental Insight
Finally, Elemental Insight increases damage against Elementals by 5%.
Overall, the Skyborne have a very unique combination of mobility, regeneration, and haste.

New Horde Racials in WoW Forever
The Horde also receives major changes to its four classic races: Orcs, Undead, Tauren, and Trolls.
On top of that, the Celics are also available to the Horde, although there is an important difference compared with their Alliance counterpart.
Orcs

Orcs gain a new defensive tool against magic damage while also changing some of their traditional bonuses.
Blood Fury
Blood Fury now increases Attack Power and Spell Power by 10% for 15 seconds.
This is a significant change because the racial is no longer focused exclusively on melee characters.
By adding Spell Power, it can also benefit classes that rely on magical abilities.
Curse Break
Curse Break is a new racial that provides immunity to curses and afflictions, while also reducing magic damage taken for 8 seconds.
This could become a very useful defensive tool, particularly against enemies that rely heavily on magical damage or negative effects.
Axe Specialization
Axe Specialization also receives a major change.
It now increases critical strike chance for spells and abilities, following the same overall direction as the weapon specializations of other races.
Hardiness
Orcs retain Hardiness, although it now reduces the duration of stuns received by 20%.
At the same time, Command, the old bonus related to pet damage, is removed.
In its place, Orcs gain a defensive racial against magic that could be significantly more valuable in certain situations.
Undead

Undead also receive major changes, including a new racial focused on health recovery.
Will of the Forsaken
Will of the Forsaken now removes the effects of:
- Enchantment.
- Fear.
- Sleep.
The ability remains an important tool for breaking out of certain crowd-control effects.
Cannibalize
Cannibalize receives one of the biggest changes.
It now restores 35% of maximum Health and Mana over 10 seconds.
This could be especially useful after combat to quickly recover both health and resources.
Underwater Breathing
Undead retain their ability to breathe underwater, but they can now do so for 300% longer.
Grave Touch
The biggest new addition is Grave Touch.
This racial gives spells and attacks a 5% chance to drain health, up to a maximum of 5% of the player's maximum Health.
This gives Undead another recovery tool that can trigger through both attacks and spells.
The old Shadow Resistance racial is removed, but in exchange, Undead gain a new survival tool that could be quite valuable.
Tauren

Tauren retain their identity as a durable race, but WoW Forever adds new options focused on mobility and utility.
War Stomp
War Stomp stuns up to five enemies within an 8-yard radius for 2 seconds.
It remains an important crowd-control tool and can be used both offensively and defensively.
Cultivation
Cultivation also receives an interesting change.
It now allows players to grow additional herbs that don't require Herbalism to gather.
This could be particularly interesting for players who enjoy professions and gathering.
Plainsrunner
Plainsrunner is a new racial that increases movement speed the longer the character remains in motion.
This gives Tauren a mobility tool that they traditionally haven't had in their racial kit.
Endurance
Finally, Endurance increases total Health by 5% and hit chance by 1%.
The result is a very interesting combination of survivability, mobility, and utility.
Trolls

Trolls also receive major changes and a new recovery tool.
Berserking
Berserking now increases attack and casting speed by 10% for 10 seconds.
Compared with Classic, where the effect could vary depending on the character's health, WoW Forever presents a fixed 10% increase.
This makes the ability easier to use and much more predictable.
Rapid Regeneration
Trolls receive a new ability called Rapid Regeneration, which restores 50% of maximum Health over a short period.
That's a powerful recovery tool that could be useful both while leveling and in different survival situations.
Regeneration
They also retain Regeneration, which increases health regeneration by 10%, while 10% of that regeneration can continue during combat.
This further reinforces the Troll focus on health recovery.
Beast Slaying
Finally, Beast Slaying increases damage against Beasts by 5%.
Trolls lose their old Bow and Thrown Weapon Specializations, but gain a new recovery tool that could be particularly useful while progressing through the game.
Horde Skyborne

The Celics are also available to the Horde and share several characteristics with their Alliance counterparts.
Walk on Air
Just like Alliance Skyborne, they can glide downward for 10 seconds.
Sky Vision
This is where we find one of the main differences.
Horde Skyborne have Sky Vision, which grants an elemental blessing that increases movement speed by 10%.
While Alliance Skyborne have Ley Line Reading, which focuses on Health and Mana regeneration, Horde Skyborne receive a bonus directly focused on mobility.
Wind Blessed
This racial increases melee, ranged, and spellcasting haste.
As a result, it remains a flexible bonus that can work across different combat styles.
Elemental Insight
Finally, Elemental Insight increases damage against Elementals by 5%.
Overall, Horde Skyborne appear to have a slightly stronger focus on mobility and maintaining a fast, dynamic combat rhythm.
