WoW Forever Free Beta: How to Play in October 2026

The WoW Forever beta will be available for free to everyone during the October 21, 2026 Stress Test. You won't need an active World of Warcraft subscription, Game Time, a beta invitation, or any paid bundle. All you need to do is get your Battle.net client ready and log in when the servers open.

Blizzard is giving everyone the opportunity to explore its new take on Classic Azeroth before the official November 4 launch, completely free of charge.

However, there's one catch: you won't have unlimited beta access. As far as we know, the public Stress Test will only last a few hours, and everything you achieve during the session will be wiped once it ends.

The truth is that the developers are conducting stress tests on WoW Forever's servers, and for that, they need players. Lots of them. This is designed to push the servers to their limits before launch.

Blizzard wants to analyze how they will perform while players complete quests, trade items, communicate, and form groups.

The goal is simple: identify server issues now instead of having to fix them when WoW Forever officially launches.

To get started, you won't need an invitation code or a special download link from any external website. All you need is to have the Battle.net launcher installed and be logged into an account.

Launch the official Battle.net application on your computer and make sure it's up to date.

If you haven't used the launcher in a while, give it a few minutes to complete any pending updates.

Select World of Warcraft Forever from your game library.

Above the Play button, you'll find the Game Version dropdown menu.

Open it and look for the WoW: Forever Stress Test section.

Select World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test and click Install.

Make sure you select the Stress Test version and not the regular Forever beta client.

These are different testing environments, and the regular beta requires an account that meets the access requirements.

Once the installation is complete, wait until the scheduled start time for your region.

That's it! You'll be inside WoW Forever without spending a single dollar.

WoW Forever isn't meant to be just another run through the same Classic leveling routes we've been memorizing for years.

Blizzard is expanding the original Azeroth experience with new content while preserving the slower progression and social gameplay that defined Classic.

The existing beta has already introduced several new features worth exploring.
