Grow a Garden - Method to Easily Obtain a Lot of Coal

Grow a Garden - Method to Easily Obtain a Lot of Coal

Today we’re going to talk about something very important that many people have been asking me: how to get tons of coal in the new Smithing Event in Grow a Garden. This resource is essential for almost all of the event’s content, so learning how to farm it properly is key to progressing quickly and saving time.

Before we begin, remember something fundamental: everything depends on how much time you dedicate to the game. There is no method that’s 100% free or instant, but there are ways to make it much easier.

Types of Coal in the Event

In this event, we have four types of coal, each with its own rarity level. All of them are required to craft event items such as the Gem Egg.

- Common Coal
- Rare Coal
- Legendary Coal
- Divine Coal

Methods to Get Coal

In the event, there are three ways to obtain the coal we need: one is the method we recommend, another is the most efficient one, and the last is only for those who have a large amount of event eggs saved in their inventory from previous events.

What you need here is time, since for this method you’ll need to have as many Smithing Dogs as possible in your garden, level them up, and give them a mutation that reduces their ability cooldown, such as the Rainbow mutation.

Each Smithing Dog has a 10% chance to dig up a piece of coal every 5 minutes, so if you manage to gather up to 8 of them, you’ll have an 80% chance of getting a coal of any type in your inventory every 5 minutes.

Once you level them up enough, and if you’re lucky enough to get a good mutation, you can obtain more than 100 coal of all types in just 2 hours, making this method completely AFK.

The Treasure Digging minigame is another way to get coal, but it’s not very recommended due to how slow it is, since you basically only have 10 attempts once a day. You can use it as an extra way to farm, especially if you’re looking for coal to craft the Smithing Dogs.

Another method to get coal is, of course, by doing the actual event mechanic but only if you have a lot of Eggs in your inventory. Many players have been complaining specifically about this, since not everyone has enough eggs to farm coal.

Each piece of coal costs one egg, and for players who don’t have many, the only option is to wait for the Egg Shop restock, buy the eggs, and throw them into the furnace to obtain coal. With this method, you would only get about 6 coal per hour.
