How to Farm Queen & Matriarch Reactors in ARC Raiders Without Any Gear

How to Farm Queen & Matriarch Reactors in ARC Raiders Without Any Gear

The Queen and Matriarch are the toughest enemies currently available in ARC Raiders. These high-threat ARC units have massive health pools, powerful attacks, and are normally designed for fully geared squads running endgame raids.

The good news is that you don't actually need high-end gear to get their reactors. There's a simple strategy that lets you farm Matriarch and Queen Reactors with virtually no equipment, making it one of the safest and cheapest ways to collect one of the game's most valuable crafting materials.

How to Get Queen and Matriarch Reactors Without Fighting Them

How to Get Queen and Matriarch Reactors Without Fighting Them

If you need Queen Reactors or Matriarch Reactors to craft legendary weapons but don't have the gear to take these bosses down, there's a much safer method. Instead of killing the boss, you'll be farming the armor plating on their legs, which has a 100% guaranteed chance to reward you with a reactor.

Sure, it's a bit of a "rat" strategy, but when you're low on resources or just need reactors for crafting, it's easily one of the safest and cheapest methods in the game.

How This Reactor Farming Strategy Works

Should You Go for More Than One Reactor?

The goal isn't to kill the Queen or Matriarch. Instead, you're taking advantage of other players doing the hard work. Your only objective is to loot the alloy armor plating that falls off the boss's legs during the fight.

Every one of these armor pieces can be looted and guarantees one Queen or Matriarch Reactor, so there isn't any RNG involved once you reach it.

Strategy:

  • Ignore the boss's core completely.
  • Watch the armor plating on its legs.
  • Wait until another squad has the boss's full attention.
  • Look for armor plates that appear heavily damaged or almost completely broken.
  • Move in quickly, loot the armor piece, and secure the reactor.

First-hand experience: After testing this method multiple times, I found that patience is far more important than gear. The players who fail are usually the ones who rush in too early instead of waiting for the boss to focus on another team.

Positioning Is Everything

If you're trying this strategy for the first time, stay close enough to monitor the fight without getting underneath the boss.

Once you become more comfortable with the Queen or Matriarch's attack patterns, you can play much more aggressively by standing beneath them and dodging their stomp attacks while waiting for a leg plate to break.

As soon as you loot the reactor:

  1. Place it immediately inside your Safe Pocket.
  2. Use Surrender if your only goal was obtaining the reactor.

This guarantees you won't lose your reward.

Should You Go for More Than One Reactor?

That depends on how greedy you want to be.

You have two options:

  • Play it safe: Secure one reactor and leave.
  • Keep farming: If you have additional Safe Pocket slots, continue looting more armor plates until you're killed or decide to extract.

Using better augments makes this strategy significantly more rewarding.

Best Loadout for This Strategy

You have two different ways to approach this farm.

Loadout Best For
No gear at all Safely obtaining one guaranteed reactor with zero investment.
Utility loadout Farming multiple reactors in a single raid.

Recommended Utility Loadout

  • Lootink MK2
  • Survivor Augment
  • Anvil I
  • Shield
  • Healing supplies
  • Heavy Ammo
  • Adrenaline

If You Decide to Damage the Boss

If You Decide to Damage the Boss

In most situations, you shouldn't attack the Queen or Matriarch.

However, if you do bring a weapon, make sure it uses Heavy Ammo, and only fire when the leg armor is already about to break.

Only shoot one or two rounds.

Since you'll be standing in a very exposed position, dealing too much damage greatly increases the chance that the Queen or Matriarch will switch aggro to you, which usually ends the run immediately.

Pro Tip: This method is all about timing, not DPS. Let other squads handle the fight while you focus on positioning, looting, and getting out with your reactor safely.

Tips to Keep Your Queen and Matriarch Reactors Safe

Tips to Keep Your Queen and Matriarch Reactors Safe

Getting the reactor is only half the job. The hardest part is making sure you actually leave the raid with it. After farming these bosses multiple times, these are the tips that have consistently given me the highest survival rate.

1. Don't Be the Last Player to Leave

Once the Queen or Matriarch goes down, don't hang around the arena.

Leave with the rest of the Raiders and head straight to the nearest elevator. More often than not, the real danger isn't the boss anymore it's the scavengers hiding nearby, waiting for isolated players to loot or leave late so they can ambush them and steal everything.

2. Get to the Boss Spawn as Fast as Possible

If you're planning to use this strategy, don't waste time exploring the map first.

The community has become extremely efficient at farming these bosses, and it's common for both the Queen and Matriarch to die in five minutes or less after spawning. Arriving late usually means you'll miss your opportunity completely.

3. Never Start the Fight Yourself

Your job is to stay unnoticed.

Before taking even a single shot at a leg plate, always identify the nearest piece of cover and know exactly where you'll retreat if something goes wrong.

The last thing you want is for the Queen or Matriarch to switch aggro onto you.

4. Always Ask for a Revive

If you get knocked down during one of these events, don't immediately give up.

First-hand experience: In my runs, players are surprisingly cooperative during Queen and Matriarch events. Even random squads will often revive nearby Raiders, especially if everyone is focused on taking down the boss. Asking for help is almost always worth it.

5. Don't Forget About the Other ARC Units

The Queen and Matriarch aren't always the biggest threat on the battlefield.

During these events, it's common for additional high-level ARC enemies to spawn, including:

  • Bastion
  • Bombardier
  • Vaporizer

In fact, during Matriarch events, these enemies are often more dangerous than the boss itself. While you're focused on looting reactors or avoiding the Queen's attacks, one of these ARC units can easily catch you off guard and end your run.
